We are just days away from the biggest sporting extravaganza in the world, as the FIFA World Cup 2026 will kick off on Thursday, June 11 (June 12 IST). The competition will be hosted by the United States of America, Canada, and Mexico and will be the biggest edition of the tournament yet, with 48 teams participating.
These 48 teams, several of them having qualified for the World Cup for the first time, have been divided into 12 groups of four teams each.
Each side will go up against the other in a group once. After each team has played their three games, the nations that finish in the top two in their group will qualify for the Round of 32. But that just gives us 24 teams, leaving eight more qualification spots. And so, the eight best-performing third-placed sides will also make it to the knockout rounds.
World Cup Group E Predictions
Today, we will predict how Group E of the FIFA World Cup 2026 will shape up at the end of the group stage. This might be the tightest group in the competition, with Germany, Curaçao, the Ivory Coast, and Ecuador being in it.

In a group of 10 South American teams, Ecuador finished second, just behind defending champions Argentina and ahead of the likes of Brazil and Uruguay.
Lastly, the Ivory Coast, or Côte d’Ivoire, has historically been one of the stronger African teams on the international stage. They were put in a relatively easier Group F in the CAF qualifiers. Despite that, they had to wait till the last matchday of the round to confirm the top spot and their place in the World Cup

This group is considered by many as the ‘group of death’, with three very strong teams in it fighting for the top spot.
Germany has been in stellar form over the last year. Not only have they been unbeaten in 12 months, but they have also won all their games in that time span. This includes a 6-0 thrashing of Slovakia, a 4-3 victory over Switzerland, and a 2-1 triumph over the United States.
This team is filled to the brim with some of the most high-profile players in world football. Captained by stalwart defender Joshua Kimmich and managed by Julian Nagelsmann, the likes of legendary goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, Real Madrid defender Antonio Rudiger, Liverpool’s Florian Wirtz, and Premier League winner with Arsenal, Kai Havertz, will be some of their biggest names. After a strong showing in the World Cup qualifiers for CONCACAF, Curaçao has played only two friendlies in the first half of this year. First came the end of May, a 4-1 drubbing against Scotland. Then, earlier this month, they took on fellow Caribbean country Aruba, whom they defeated 4-0
Curaçao is the beneficiary of FIFA’s expanded format for the World Cup, and the fact that three of the biggest CONCACAF nations automatically qualified as the hosts. Despite that, this is the biggest sporting achievement in the history of the small nation. They will be managed in this tournament by Dick Advocaat, who led them through this historic achievement. Meanwhile, their star player will also be their captain, midfield/right back anchor Leandro Bacuna, who has 116 appearances for Aston Villa.
Ecuador lost in the quarter-final of the 2024 Copa América on penalties. But since then, this team has been in top form. Having not lost a single game since that defeat to Argentina on penalties. They have beaten Brazil, thrashed Bolivia, beat Argentina in the CONCACAF qualifiers
The South American nation will be managed by Argentine manager Sebastian Beccacece, and captained by veteran forward Enner Valencia, who had a memorable 2022 World Cup. This team has several big player that play for European clubs in big leagues. The likes of Jeremy Arévalo and Nilson Angulo play for Stuttgart and Sunderland, respectively. But the biggest name on this side is Chelsea’s, Moisés Caicedo
Finally, the Ivory Coast. They will be captained by former Milan and Barcelona midfielder Franck Kessié, and will be managed by a former national team icon in Emerse Faé. While not a team full of massive names, they do have some ballers, like Hoffenheim striker Bazoumana Touré, Inter Milan attacker Ange-Yoan Bonny, and the biggest name of the lot, Manchester United star Amad Diallo.
After a loss in the AFCON quarterfinals against Egypt earlier this year, this African team has been on a tear. In the three friendlies they have played in 2026, they have beaten Scotland 1-0, thrashed South Korea 4-0, and, in the biggest result of them all, defeated France 2-1.
