The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) had a solid conviction that Prashant Veer is the type of player who would thrive in their team. That’s why the five-time champions went after the youngster in the IPL auction 2026 like nobody ever had for an uncapped Indian player.
On Tuesday, at the IPL auction 2026 in Abu Dhabi, Prashant Veer became the most expensive uncapped player in the IPL auction history as CSK bought him for INR 14.2 crore.
CSK staved off fierce competition from Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) as Kavya Maran stretched the CSK think tank to go beyond INR 10 crore for Veer and eventually dropped out when the bid went to INR 14.2 crore.
Before CSK and SRH’s bidding war, the Mumbai Indians, Lucknow Super Giants, and Rajasthan Royals had also entered the race to grab the young all-rounder, with eventually CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan securing Veer’s services.
This is a life-changing amount for Veer, who has quickly become a known entity among cricket fans. Let us give you some insights and details on the youngster for whom CSK broke the bank in the mini auction.
