Highest Target Chased Down At Lords:The ongoing India vs England 3rd Test at the historic Lord’s cricket ground stands at parity, as India have been bowled out exactly at England’s first innings total. So the Lord’s Test is now a one-innings-each shoot-out with two days to go.
England captain Ben Stokes had elected to bowl first after winning the toss, a decision he’s made only the second time in a home Test match since taking over the full-time Test captaincy in mid-2022.
Joe Root and Jasprit Bumrah, the best players of their respective teams in their respective departments, got their names engraved on the Lord’s honors board during England’s first innings.
Root notched up his 37th Test century, and Bumrah claimed his 15th Test five-wicket haul. Bumrah, who had taken a five-for in the first Test in Leeds, was rested from the second Test at Edgbaston. He turned up at Lord’s fresh and delivered an outstanding performance once again, while Root carried England’s innings, taking the hosts to a score of 387.
In reply, India also had one centurion in KL Rahul, who batted with immense control for his 100 runs but failed to convert it into a bigger score. India also had Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja score half-centuries, courtesy of which the visitors matched England’s total.
In the second innings, England fell at 192 thanks to the four 4-wicket haul from Washington Sunder and two 2-wicket hauls each from Bumrah and Siraj. In reply, India have reached 58 by losing 4 wickets at the end of the fourth day.
With a day left in the match, the Lord’s Test is positioned at a tantalizing point as all results are possible. The pitch had previously been low and dull, but there is help in it for the spinners, as some balls have turned over the last couple of days. With the pitch taking a further baking in the unusually hot English summer this time, it’s expected to aid spinners with more turn and pacers with some uneven bounce going forward.

The highest target chased down at Lord’s in Test cricket is 342, which the West Indies successfully made against hosts England in 1984. That was courtesy of a double century from opener Gordon Greenidge. That was the only time a target of more than 300 has successfully been chased at Lord’s.
The second-highest successful run chase at Lord’s is 282, which has happened twice: by England against New Zealand in 2002, with Nasser Hussain hitting a century; and by South Africa against Australia recently in the ICC WTC Final 2025, due to Aiden Markram’s memorable hundred.
