Bumrah Heaps Praise on Siraj Spirit for Bowling: While Jasprit Bumrah has been the standout Indian bowler of the series so far, his bowling partners have failed to back him up well.
Bumrah is the leading wicket-taker of the series with 18 scalps at an average of only 11.72. However, other Indian bowlers have faltered in being consistent with either wicket-taking or maintaining a tidy run rate. Siraj has 11 wickets at an economy of 3.61.
Harshit Rana, in the first two matches, took four wickets at an average of 50 and an economy of 4.51. Akash Deep bowled impressively at the Gabba but had only one wicket to show in almost 30 overs and conceded 95 runs. Jadeja leaked runs at an economy of 4.13 at the Gabba, while Nitish Kumar Reddy has an average of 41 and an economy of 4.55 in this series.
This has resulted in Australia piling up first-innings totals of 337 in Adelaide, which helped them take a lead of 157 runs, and 445 at the Gabba.

The Indian vice-captain explained that the bowling attack is in transition. This is the debut Test series for Reddy and Rana and the first overseas tour for Akash Deep.
Bumrah said at the end of Day 3 in Brisbane, “See, we don’t, as a team, point fingers at each other, and we don’t want to get into that mindset where we are pointing fingers at each other [and say] that ‘you should do this, you should do that’.
“Obviously, we, as a team, are going through a transition where new players are coming here, and it’s not the easiest place to play cricket. Over here, it’s a different atmosphere with this wicket being a different challenge. So yeah, we’re not looking at that.”

The Indian pacer spearhead also lavished high praise on the positive attitude and exuberant energy of his new-ball partner Mohammed Siraj, who had left the field on day 1 with a niggle but returned to bowl in the remainder of Australia’s innings. Siraj has been booed by the crowds at Adelaide and Brisbane following his fiery exchange with Travis Head in the second Test. Bumrah is happy with Siraj’s “fighter” attitude.
“I think when we came here in Perth, as well as the last game, he looked in very good spirits. He was bowling well, and he has picked up a fair few of the wickets. In this game, I think I’ll give him credit that he had a little bit of a niggle, but he still kept on bowling and still helped the team because he knew if he goes inside and he doesn’t bowl, then that team will go under pressure. So I think he has got a great attitude, and he has got a fighter spirit that the team loves,” – Bumrah added of Siraj.
