India vs Australia 1st Test Report: A clever slower off-cutter from seamer Harshit Rana that went through the gate of Josh Hazlewood secured one of India’s most memorable Test match wins as they thumped Australia by 295 runs at the Optus Stadium in Perth.
How special this win is can be learned from the fact that this is only the second time in the history of India’s Test cricket that they have won a match even after being bowled out for 150 or less in the first innings of the match.
Further, having breached fortress Gabba in 2021, India also breached another fortress of Australia’s: Australia had won all the previous four Test matches at the Optus Stadium before losing this one.
The victory for India was inevitable after they had left Australia frazzled with three wickets down for only 12 runs in the chase of a huge target of 534 runs. The bowlers wrapped up the win at the start of the third session of the day, and India took a 1-0 lead in the five-match BGT series.

India vs Australia 1st Test Report:
India removed Usman Khawaja and Steve Smith in the first session of the day with Siraj dismissing both batters. He had Khawaja top-edging a pull shot while Smith outside-edged a ball outside the off-stump that was angled in.
The second session of the day was enthralling as Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh counterattacked. Head was imperious once again against India as he smashed 89 runs off 101 balls, smoking 8 fours, while Marsh hammered 3 fours and 2 sixes in his knock of 47 (67).
They put on a partnership of 82 runs off 87 balls, but Jasprit Bumrah came to the rescue for India once again. He went around the wicket to Head and cramped him for room on a back-of-length ball that the left-hander edged behind.
The end came quickly for Australia. Marsh chopped onto his stumps off Nitish Kumar Reddy. Washington Sundar got rid of Lyon and Starc, with Dhruv Jurel taking a one-handed stunner at short leg of Starc. Rana delivered the final nail in the coffin with Hazlewood’s wicket.
Jasprit Bumrah was named the Man of the Match for his exceptional bowling performances—5/30 & 3/42—and highly impressive leadership.
