Daren Sammy On Alzarri Joseph Laving Field: West Indies Cricket Team head coach Daren Sammy has called Alzarri Joseph’s action during the most recent ODI against England “completely unacceptable,” as the pacer left the field in the middle of the match.
The Windies recently took on England in a three-match ODI series. In the first two games, both sides split the first two games as they headed into the third at the Kensington Oval in Barbados. The home side won the toss and decided to bowl first.
The controversy occurred minutes after the match started. Alzarri Joseph was one of the West Indies’ opening bowlers. After the first three overs, England was down to 10/1 when Joseph came in to bowl the fourth over of the inning (his second over). The pacer was unhappy with the field that was set for him and showed off his anger, having a heated altercation with his captain, Shai Hope.
On the fourth ball of the over, Alzarri dismissed Jordan Cox with a fiery bouncer as Hope took the catch behind the stumps. But despite taking a wicket, he did not celebrate, instead walking back to his bowling mark.
But what happened at the end of the over shocked everyone. Instead of going back to fielding, the lanky pacer just left the field and headed back to the dressing room. The West Indies had to play with just 10 men on the field in the fifth over, after which Joseph returned to the field after what likely was a spirited conversation with the coaching staff.
Alzarri Joseph left the field in anger because he wasn't happy with the captain's field placement.

Following the game, West Indies head coach and two-time T20 World Cup-winning captain Daren Sammy spoke of the situation. He sounded dismayed by the situation while talking to TalkSPORT, saying,
“Behaviour like that is unacceptable on my cricket field. We will be friends…but in the culture I’m trying to build, that’s unacceptable. We will definitely have a chat about that.”
Alzarri Joseph did return to the field to bowl the sixth over. Later in the match, after his second spell, he did return back to the dressing room for possibly getting some treatment. He ended the game with fine figures of 2/45, scalping Dan Mousley in the 46th over after he scored a fine 50.
The West Indies Cricket Team went on to win the match, chasing down the 263-run target in just 43 overs and winning the game by eight wickets as Brandon King and Keacy Carty scored tons. The Windies also won the series 2-1 as they now head into a five-match T20I series.
