South African Cricket Team star batter David Miller has refuted the rumors and reports that he is retiring from T20Is, claiming that the best is yet to come for him.
Having played in and losing the final of a World Cup must have been bittersweet for the whole team. While yes, it is true that South Africa made it to the final of a World Cup for the very first time ever, they let a World Cup win slip away in the final overs of the game.
Just a recap: India batted first and lost some early wickets. But a brilliant inning of 76-off-59 took the Men in Blue to 176. Then, while chasing, solid knocks by Quinton de Kock and Heinrich Klassen brought the game down to requiring 30 runs in as many balls.
From here, the Indian pace unit of Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and Hardik Pandya cleaned up and won the game for their side by seven runs.

Following the final of the 2024 T20 World Cup, several big names announced their retirement from T20Is. The likes of Virat Kohli, captain Rohit Sharma, and Ravindra Jadeja announced their retirements following the game.
But after South Africa lost that game, reports emerged that the 35-year-old would announce his retirement. Some fans ended up believing the reports and believing that Miller would be stepping away soon.
David Miller Rubbishes Retirement Reports
David Miller took to Instagram to post a story and kiboshed the claims of his T20I retirement. Posting a picture of himself from the 2024 World Cup, Miller wrote this in the caption:
“Contrary to some reports, I have not retired from T20 international cricket.”
David Miller has been one of the Proteas’ best batters in T20s. In 109 innings, he has scored 2437 runs with a solid average of 33.38 and an above-140 strike rate.
Miller also had a decent campaign in the 2024 T20 World Cup, scoring 169 runs in eight innings with an average of 28.16. He was also South Africa’s last complete batter in the final before his wicket in the final overall, which sealed the deal for his team.
After making it to and losing their first World Cup final, South Africa will travel to the West Indies for a two-Test and a three-T20I series in August.
