This team includes the highest run scorers, the most explosive batter, the finest all-rounder, and the greatest bowlers from this World Cup.
Here is the Team of the Tournament for the 2024 T20 World Cup –
2024 T20 WC Team of The Tournament
Openers
1) Rohit Sharma – The Indian skipper became only the third Indian to captain India to a World Cup victory. Apart from being the Cup-winning captain, Rohit also had a fine tournament as a batter, being the second-highest run-scorer in the competition.
Rohit Sharma scored 257 runs with a strike rate of 156.7 in this World Cup. Setting the attacking tone for the Indian batting, the 37-year-old was the best batter of the World Champions. His best inning came against Australia in the Super 8, where he played a blistering knock of 92 runs in 41 deliveries.
2) Rahmanullah Gurbaz – The Afghanistan wicket-keeper/opener was the highest run scorer of this tournament. Scoring 281 runs in eight games with an average of 35.12, Girbaz was the start of the Afghan batting order and played a big role in the team making it to the semi-final of an ICC tournament for the first time.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz was arguably the best batsman of this competition, with hisbeat performance coming in the dominant win over New Zealand, where he scored 80 runs, five runs more than the entire New Zealand team.
Middle-Order
3) Nicholas Pooran – While the West Indies had a mixed tournament at their home World Cup, Nicholas Pooean was the team’s best batsman by far. The wicketkeeper/batter scored 228 runs in this World Cup with an average of 38 and a strike rate of 146.15.
His best inning came against Afghanistan in a brilliant group stage win over Afghanistan, where Pooran made the highest individual score of this competition with his 98-off-53.
4) Suryakumar Yadav: Suryakumar Yadav was India’s second-highest run-scorer in this competition and played several crucial knocks. He scored 199 runs in nine games with a strike rate of 125.47 and was a rock in the middle order for the team.

All-Rounders
5) Marcus Stoinis – The huge all-rounder was Australia’s best player in this tournament. With the bat, he scored 169 runs with a strike rate of 164.07 and an average of 42.25. While with the ball, he took 10 wickets.
He scored two 50s in this competition, but his best performance came against Oman, where he scored an unbeaten 67 and bowled a brilliant spell of 3/19, winning the Player of the Match award.
6) Hardik Pandya – The Indian vice-captain came into this tournament in poor form from the IPL and having been hounded by the Indian fans for months. But he proved why he is among the highest-rated white-ball cricketers in the world. Hardik Pandya scored 144 runs with an above-150 strike rate and took 11 wickets with a sub-eight economy.
While Pandya’s best game was his Player of the Match performance against Bangladesh in the Super 8 where he scored an unbeaten 50 and took a wicket, it was actually the final against South Africa where he shined, as it was his wicket of Heinrich Klassen that brought India back in the game, and his wicket of David Miller that won India the game.
7) Axar Patel: The wiley all-rounder scored 92 runs in the lower-middle-order for India and took nine wickets in this tournament. While he did not take the most wickets, Axar Patel kept it tight in the middle over, allowing India to restrict the opposition for fewer runs.
Axar’s best performance came in the final against South Africa, where he scored a fine inning of 47-off-31 before getting run out. He also took the wicket of the dangerous Tristan Stubbs in that game.
Bowlers
8) Rashid Khan – The Afghanistan skipper might not have been at his best in this tournament, but he is still one of the greatest spinners of this era. He took 14 wickets in eight games in this World Cup with a staggering average of 12.78 and an economy of 6.17.
Rashid took two four-wicket hauls in this tournament, against New Zealand and Bangladesh, and while the one against the Kiwis resulted in a famous win over New Zealand, his 4/23 speel against Bangladesh came in a crucial Super 8 game while defending a very low total, making it his best performance in the tournament and arguably the best in the competition.
9) Jasprit Bumrah – the Player of the Tournament proved himself to be the best bowler in the world at the moment. Seeing such a great cricketer in the best form of their life is rare and is a privilege. Jasprit Bumrah took 15 wickets in this tournament with a disgustingly devastating average of 8.26 and an economy of 4.17.
Statistically, his best bowling performance was his 3-7 spell against Afghanistan, four runs of which came via an edge. But in importance, it is a tie between his awesome3/14 spell in a low run chase against Pakistan, or his 2/18 spell in the final against South Africa, where he haunted the Proteas batters and kicked off India’s comeback in the final five overs.
10) Arshdeep Singh – The joint-highest wicket-taker of the tournament, Arshdeep Singh might have been the player who raised their stock the highest in this World Cup. The left-arm pacer took 17 wickets in this tournament with an average of 12,64 and an economy of 7.16.
Arshdeep’s best spell in this competition came against the USA, where he broke down the opposition batting order with a 4/9 four-over spell.
11) Fazalhaq Farooqi – the other joint-highest wicket-taker of the World Cup, Fazalhaq Farooqi took 17 wickets in this tournament with an average of 9.41 and an economy of 6.31.
Farooqi played a massive role in Afghanistan’s route to the semi-finals. His best spell was also the best spell of the entire competition, as the pacer blew past Uganada with a four-over spell of 5/9.
(12th Man) Anrich Nortje – Probably South Africa’s best individual performer in this World Cup, Anrich Nortje led South Africa’s bowling line-up to the tournament’s final. He took 15 wickets with an average of 13.4 and an economy of 5.74.
Nortje’s best performance in this competition was the fantastic 4/7 spell against Sri Lanka in the Proteas opening game of the tournament. He also had a fine performance in the final against India with a spell of 2/26.
