What Makes Germany Favourites To Win 2024 Euros: The 2024 UEFA Euros are about to kick off tonight as the international football extravaganza returns to our screens for the first time since 2021.
With any tournament of its kind, there are several teams that are going into this one as the favorites. Obviously, there are sides like France and England that have done magnificently in recent Euros and FIFA World Cups. There is also the defending champion, Italy, who will be looking for a strong return to international tournaments after missing the previous World Cup.
There are also teams like Spain, Portugal, Belgium, and the Netherlands, who will always be at least dark-horse favorites going into any competition.
But the side that is exciting the fans and experts a lot before the tournament is the team that will play this tournament on their home soil, Germany. In fact, Germany will play the first game of the competition against Scotland at 12:30 AM on June 15 in Munich’s Allianz Arena.

But apart from the history of the national team, what makes Germany one of the favorites to win UEFA Euro 2024? Let’s have a look.
Something we have already mentioned is the fact that Germany will be playing in this competition at home. And home advantage is a genuine factor in football. The 2016 Euros were played in France, and the French made it to the final. While the 2021 tournament was played in 12 countries, England played almost all their games at home and made it to the final as well.

Aside from the home-field advantage, several other factors make Germany the favorite to win it all.
In the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the last such tournament Germany played, they failed to make it out of their group for the second World Cup in a row. That disappointment put an end to Joachim Low’s otherwise legendary stint as the national team manager.
Soon after, Julian Nagelsmann was signed as the Germany manager until the 2024 Euros, but his contract was recently extended up to the 2026 World Cup. After a shaky start to his tenure that culminated with a 4-1 loss to Japan in June 2023, the 36-year-old turned the national team’s fortunes around.
Since then, Germany has defeated France twice and the Netherlands once; both sides are also among the favorites to win the Euros.
What has also changed in the past couple of years is how Germany’s exciting new generation has finally settled into the team.

Jamal Musiala is one of the most highly touted attacking midfielders in the world, alongside the likes of England’s Jude Bellingham. Having played in an international tournament already, the 21-year-old is finally ready to show his abilities on a global scale.
The likes of 24-year-old defender Nico Schlotterbeck, Jonathan Tah, and the latest German sensation, attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz, are ready to take the baton from the big names in this squad.
With an exciting crop of young talents, there are also world-class players on this team who are in their peak years of football. Bayern winger Leroy Sane is still that quick and skilled playmaker we saw at Manchester City, just more mature now.
Antonio Rudiger is one of the best defenders in the world now for Real Madrid, and Arsenal’s Kai Havertz finally had an elite season after years of promise, scoring 14 goals and assisting seven for the Gunners.
Then we arrive at the players who will cry their last hurrah in this tournament. We know this is Toni Kroos’ final tournament in football. The sublime midfielder has won everything for his club and country. With Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, he won countless Champions Leagues and league titles. With Germany, he won the 2014 World Cup. The only competition he has yet to win is the Euros.
Still one of the best midfielders in the world, the whole team will want to win this competition for him. But Kroos is not the only veteran player who is likely playing their last tournament for Germany.

While Thomas Muller’s physicality might have gone down with age, that was not the showcase aspect of his game. His eye for passing balls through and creating chances is unmatched, something he still possesses. Manuel Neuer is also at the end of his international career. In a conversation about being the greatest goalkeeper in football history, Neuer might finally pass the role of Germany’s No. 1 to Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
With a fantastic squad that has a fine mix of young and experienced names, a young coach who is out to prove himself, and a home-field advantage, Germany is one of, if not the favourites, to win Euro 2024.
