Oman got off to a poor but typical start to their inning, losing two wickets, including captain Aqib Ilyas, in the first four overs. But the floodgates opened when Mark Wood dismissed Zeeshan Maqsood on the first ball of the final over of the powerplay.
Wood then wiped out the Oman top order by dismissing Kashyap Prajapati in the same over. In the seventh over, Adil Rashid came into the attack and devastated the Oman batting order. He stumped Khalid Kail on his first delivery.

Omani wickets kept falling as they went from 25/5 to 36/8 in the 11th over. By the time the 14th over arrived, the Asian minnows were all out for 47.
It was an easy target for England to chase; it came down to how quickly they could do it. It turns out they intended to chase the minuscule target in record time.
Phil Salt hit two sixes on the first two balls of the inning before pacer Bilal Khan bowled him. England scored 14 runs in the first over. The next over saw England ‘only’ score 10 runs, five of which came on a no-ball that raced to the boundary. Will Jacks lost his wicket in this over, the only English batter to finish with a sub-300 strike rate with his 5 in seven.
It was the next over where England captain Jos Buttler showed why he is considered one of the best white-ball batters of all time. He hit four 4s and one 6 to score 22 runs in the over, taking his side just two runs away from the target with over 100 deliveries left.
The first ball of the fourth over was dispatched for a four by Jonny Bairstow, and the Three Lions won the match by eight wickets and 101 balls to spare.
This is by far the fastest run chase in T20 World Cup history, with the second closest being done by Sri Lanka in 2014 against the Netherlands in five overs.
For his four-wicket haul and role in collapsing the Oman batting attack, Adil Rashid was named the Player of the Match.
As for England, this was their first win in the competition. With three points in three games, they will need to win their next game against Namibia and Scotland to lose against Australia if they are to make it to the Super 8.
