RCB vs CSK Match Highlights And Report-IPL: Plenty of storylines, plenty of narratives. But the bottom line after the Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Chennai Super Kings match at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday evening is that RCB have made one of the most unbelievable comebacks in IPL history to enter the playoffs with six wins in six games, after losing seven out of eight matches.
CSK, on the other hand, missed the playoffs for only the third time. This could also be the last time we have seen Dhoni as a player in the IPL.
RCB posted 218 batting first and needed to win by 18 runs to qualify for the playoffs, while CSK needed to score 201. At the end of a highly dramatic night, RCB won by 27 runs.
Yash Dayal had a nightmare against Rinku Singh last year. But today, the pacer avenged himself against the likes of MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja to defend 11 runs in 5 balls and take RCB to the playoffs.

Gaikwad won the toss and elected to bowl first. After a 2-run first over, Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis pressed on the accelerator to hammer 29 runs in two overs before rain arrived. Because of the rain, the moisture seeped into the pitch, which allowed the CSK spinners to get plenty of turns.
Kohli and Faf struggled against the CSK spin trio; by the end of the 8th over, RCB were 60/0. Kohli slammed a couple of sixes before getting out to Santner for 47 (29), caught at long-on. Du Plessis hit two sixes and a four but got run out after a mix-up with Patidar for 54 runs.
Patidar and Green attacked and collected 19 runs off Simarjeet, 17 off Shardul, and 16 off Deshpande.
Thakur and Deshpande were disastrous in the death overs as RCB went from 138 runs at the end of the 15th over to finish at 218. Patidar scored 41 (23), Green scored 38 (17), and Dinesh Karthik and Maxwell added 30 runs in only 11 balls between them.

Because of the NRR calculations, 201 was the number to focus on for both teams. CSK had a poor start as Gaikwad top-edged a pull to short fine leg on the first ball of the chase off Maxwell. Daryl Mitchell chipped Dayal to Kohli at mid-off.
Things didn’t get any better for CSK. Rahane (33 off 22) and Shivam Dube (7 off 15) couldn’t get going on this pitch. CSK’s innings was held until the 13th over by Rachin Ravindra. The young Kiwi opener scored 61 runs in 37 balls with five fours and three sixes.
After 16 overs, CSK were 138/6, needing 63 runs in the last four overs, and with the old guards Dhoni and Jadeja just in.
Jadeja whacked Dayal for a four and a six in the 17th over, and 15 runs came in the 18th over, bowled by Siraj. RCB started to lose control as Ferguson leaked 18 runs in the penultimate over, leaving CSK 17 to score off six balls to qualify.
Faf went with Dayal over Green but may have started to regret his choice as Dhoni pulled a 110-meter six on the first ball. However, Dayal bounced back admirably with a slower ball to have Dhoni caught at deep square leg. He then closed out the game with two slower balls outside off-stump against Jadeja.
It was mayhem in the field as the RCB players and support staff ran around, and pandemonium in the stands as the RCB fans went wild.
Score summary: Royal Challengers Bengaluru 218/5 in 20 overs (Faf du Plessis 54, Shardul Thakur 2/61); Chennai Super Kings 191/7 in 20 overs (Rachin Ravindra 61, Yash Dayal 2/42). RCB defeated CSK by 27 runs.
