KKR vs LSG Match Highlights And Report-IPL: KKR continued to tick boxes as Mitchell Starc found his groove in the death overs against LSG with a couple of important scalps.
On either side of Starc’s effort, the match-winning performances came from Sunil Narine, who was at his best with the ball by returning with figures of 1/17, and Phil Salt, who blasted 89* in the chase of 162.
KKR gunned this target down with utter ease, winning by 8 wickets and with 26 balls to spare.

Shreyas Iyer won the toss and elected to bowl first. Quinton de Kock started LSG’s innings with two boundaries on the first two balls off Starc before edging Vaibhav Arora in the second over. Deepak Hooda (8) suffered another failure, dismissed by a sensational flying catch by Ramandeep Singh at point off Starc.
At the other end, though, KL Rahul looked solid with a six-over cover and a pull. Rahul and young Ayush Badoni looked to settle themselves in first in order to explode later. However, perhaps they took a bit too much time: they formed a partnership of 39 runs in 34 balls, and both were dismissed before they could go big. Rahul scored 39 (27) and Badoni scored 29 (27).
This slowdown was followed by a cheap dismissal of Marcus Stoinis (10), further exacerbating matters for Lucknow.
Their last hope for a competitive total was Nicholas Pooran, who stepped up once again. The left-handed West Indian weaved a spate of handsome pull shots in his knock of 45 (32), hitting 2 fours and 4 sixes, which took LSG to 161. Starc registered his best bowling figures of the season: 3/28—he took Pooran and Krunal’s wicket in the last over of the innings.
Amid this, Narine did what Narine does: he conceded only 17 runs and didn’t get hit for even a single boundary in his four-over spell while dismissing the set Badoni.

KKR got a big start to their chase with a 22-run first over off debutant Shamar Joseph; 10 runs in it came from wides and no-balls. LSG, though, struck with wickets of Sunil Narine and Angkrish Raghuvanshi, through Mohsin Khan’s hit-the-deck bowling.
Phil Salt got going with a six to Joseph, followed by a hat-trick of fours off Krunal Pandya and two consecutive fours off Yash Thakur. KKR ended the powerplay at 58/2, right after which Salt clobbered Joseph for a maximum.
Salt’s fireworks allowed Iyer to settle in. The KKR captain was 6 (12) at one stage before opening his arms against Arshad Khan and Ravi Bishnoi with multiple boundaries. Their partnership kept flourishing with each passing over as boundaries began to flow almost every over.
Iyer and Salt pounced further on Joseph and Thakur in the 13th and 14th overs to collect 30 runs in those two overs combined. Salt hammered a four and a six to Mohsin in the 15th over before completing the chase in the 16th over with another boundary off Bishnoi.
In all, Salt creamed 14 fours and 3 sixes in his sizzling knock of 89* (47) while Iyer played the second-fiddle, scoring a run-a-ball 38 as Salt went about his way with dominance and disdain.
Score summary: Lucknow Super Giants 161/7 in 20 overs (Nicholas Pooran 45, Mitchell Starc 3/28); Kolkata Knight Riders 162/2 in 15.4 overs (Phil Salt 89*, Mohsin Khan 2/29). KKR defeated LSG by 8 wickets.
