Trades in IPL 2024 Auction: On Sunday, November 26, all 10 IPL franchises announced their final list of retained and released players. But two more trades happened on Monday, involving three franchises.
November 30 was the last date for all players to register their names for the IPL 2024 auction. It is expected that more than 700 players have registered themselves for the IPL 2024 auction. The BCCI and the IPL committees will then chisel this list down to about half of them, who will go under the hammer on December 19 in Dubai.
Talking about the trades, there were 7 trades that happened in the trading window.
The trading window is still open, and it will remain open until one week before the auction, which is December 12. It will be opened again from the next day of the auction until 30 days before the start of the season.
Trades in IPL 2024 Auction: Here are the 7 trades that have happened so far ahead of IPL 2024 auction:
Romario Shepherd – LSG to MI
The first trade that happened was for West Indies all-rounder Romario Shepherd, who was traded from the Lucknow Super Giants to the Mumbai Indians. Shepherd was picked by LSG for 50 lakh and played just one game last season. Maybe MI had been planning for the arrival of Hardik Pandya and the departure of Cameron Green. That is perhaps why they traded in Shepherd, who comes with a very low price of 50 lakh.
Swap between Devdutt Padikkal and Avesh Khan
Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants were involved in a straight swap trade of young left-handed batsman Devdutt Padikkal (INR 7.75 crore) and fast bowler Avesh Khan (INR 10 crore).
Padikkal, who had done well for two seasons as an opener for RCB, was finding it difficult to raise his game in the middle order for the Royals. The left-hander averaged only 23 in two seasons for RR. Avesh picked only 8 wickets last season for LSG and had an economy of 9.75.
RCB, SRH swap Shahbaz Ahmed and Mayank Dagar
The Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Royal Challengers Bangalore swapped spin all-rounders Shahbaz Ahmed (INR 2.4 cr) and Mayank Dagar (INR 1.8 cr) in a player-for-player trade. Dagar played only 3 matches last season for SRH, while Shahbaz turned up for 10 games for RCB. Both players didn’t make any noteworthy contributions.

Hardik Pandya – GT to MI
After captaining the Gujarat Titans for two seasons – finishing with one IPL trophy and one runner-up position – Hardik Pandya has moved back to his “home” team, Mumbai Indians, with whom he won 4 titles from 2015 to 2021.
GT’s Director of Cricket, Vikram Solanki said Hardik had “expressed a desire to return” to MI. While Hardik’s salary will remain INR 15 crore, he will also get a hefty part of the transfer fee that MI paid to GT; he is also very likely to take the captaincy from Rohit Sharma, either this season or next.
Cameron Green – MI to RCB
As soon as the trade of Hardik Pandya back to MI was confirmed, MI also announced that Cameron Green, who debuted for them only last season, had been traded to RCB. This was because MI had to make room in their purse to include Hardik’s 15 crore salary.
As per the Trades in IPL 2024 Auction, they did the simple math of eliminating the INR 17.5 crore of Green. Not only did they make a profit on this two-street trade, but they also got their future captain and an Indian pace-bowling all-rounder to replace Green.
