WPL 2024 Auction Date: The Women’s Premier League (WPL) auction for the 2024 season has been scheduled for December 9. It will be a one-day auction. The WPL 2024 auction will be held in Mumbai.
In October, all five WPL franchises announced their list of retained and released players. All teams combined retained 60 players, including 21 overseas, while 29 players were released. This means that now a total of 30 slots are available to be filled at the WPL 2024 auction.

For the WPL 2024 auction, an additional purse of INR 1.5 crore (approximately US $180,228) has been added to each franchise’s purse after the release of the players.
In the first-ever WPL auction, each franchise had been allotted INR 12 crore to build their squad. Only two teams – Mumbai Indians and UP Warriorz – used up their entire purse.
The Mumbai Indians, captained by Harmanpreet Kaur, went on to win the inaugural WPL season, defeating Meg Lanning’s Delhi Capitals in the final.

Women’s Premier League Auction Schedule
The Gujarat Giants, who ended at the bottom of the points table last season, will go into the WPL 2024 auction with the highest purse of INR 5.95 crore and 10 slots to fill, including three overseas, after releasing almost half of their squad. UP Warriorz have INR 4 crore to buy 5 players to complete their squad. Royal Challengers Bangalore have INR 3.35 crore to fill 7 slots. Delhi Capitals have INR 2.25 crore to buy 3 players, and Mumbai Indians have INR 2.1 crore for 5 players.
As per the WPL 2024 auction date, fans are excited to see which player will earn the biggest contract in the WPL 2024 auction.
In the last WPL auction, India opener Smriti Mandhana (INR 3.4 crore) became the most expensive WPL player, followed by Australian all-rounder Ashleigh Gardner (INR 3.2 crore) and England all-rounder Nat Sciver-Brunt (INR 3.2 crore). Once again, Pakistani players are not allowed to participate in the WPL auction.
The BCCI has not yet confirmed the venues and dates for the WPL 2024 season. The last season was played at three stadiums in Mumbai.
