Trish Stratus is a Canadian professional wrestler who has been with WWE for 25 years now. She is signed to WWE and performs on the SmackDown brand. Her 448-day reign as WWF/WWE Women’s Champion is the longest for any woman’s world champion in the 21st century.
Stratus initially studied at York University to become a doctor but began her career as a fitness model. She joined the WWF (later WWE) in 2000. As she gained in-ring experience, she won the WWE Hardcore Championship once, was a three-time WWE Babe of the Year, and was named Diva of the Decade.
After nearly seven years, Stratus retired full-time from wrestling at WWE Unforgiven on September 17, 2006, after winning her seventh WWE Women’s Championship. Trish Stratus won her first women’s championship in 2001 at the Survivor Series event. She started wrestling part-time after becoming a fan favorite. She and Lita teamed up and faced off against Torrie Wilson and Stacy Keibler at Invasion. During the summer, she suffered an ankle injury that kept her out of action for about three months. This injury stopped her in-ring progress and also ended her on-screen romance with Jeff Hardy and a planned storyline with Team Xtreme.
Stratus returned in the autumn and appeared at Survivor Series, where she competed in a six-pack challenge. In that match, she won the WWF Women’s Championship for the first time in her career. After winning the title, she entered a feud with Jazz. On the January 22 episode of SmackDown!, Stratus defeated Jazz by disqualification after Jazz repeatedly targeted her injured hand and left her lying in the ring. Stratus later lost the Women’s Championship to Jazz on the February 4, 2002 episode of Raw, ending her first title reign.
Trish Stratus’ most famous world championship win was her sixth Women’s Championship, which she won from Lita at New Year’s Revolution on January 9, 2005. She held the title for 448 days, making it one of the longest reigns in WWE history. During this time, she started as a heel but later became a face and defended the title against almost every top woman in the company. Her reign ended when Mickie James defeated her at WrestleMania 22.
Trish Stratus won her last world championship on September 17, 2006, at Unforgiven in her hometown of Toronto. She defeated Lita using Bret Hart’s Sharpshooter submission. This victory earned her her seventh and final Women’s Championship, the most in WWE history. She retired as champion, and the title was vacated shortly after.
