Shubman Gill Calls Young Indian Batters Fearless: Indian Cricket Team batter Shubman Gill has recently discussed the carefree attitude of young Indian batters while on strike, suggesting that they do not think about who the bowler is and just play the ball as it is.
Gill is part of the India squad in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The five-match Australia vs India Test series is down two matches. The first one in Perth saw India dominate with the ball. That, coupled with a brilliant batting performance in the third inning, resulted in the away team winning by 295 runs.
As per the Shubman Gill calls young Indian batters fearless, The second match in Adelaide was quite the opposite, as it was the Aussies’ turn to dominate with the ball and then have a great time with the bat in the second inning to win the match by 10 wickets.
Shubman was not a part of the first match of the series and joined the squad for the second Test. In the first inning of the Adelaide Test, he was one of the team’s highest run scorers with 31 as the Men in Blue were bowled out for 180. After Australia scored 337 and took a 157-run lead, Gill was a part of another batting collapse, scoring 28 as his team was bowled out for 175.

Ahead of the third Test at The Gabba in Brisbane, Shubman Gill gave an interview recently to the Times of India, where he said that the younger generation of Indian batters, which includes him, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant, and Nitish Kumar Reddy, are fearless and carefree, not focusing on who the bowler is but just on the ball.
“The discussion was about firing together as a batting group in the first innings after the Adelaide Test. You’ll be afraid if you have not won. We have won last time and even in India. This generation doesn’t think about who’s bowling and just looks at the ball,” he said.
Shulman then went on to discuss what makes the conditions at The Gabba challenging, the conditions that made this stadium a fort for the Australian Cricket Team for decades, saying,
“I think the intensity with which games are played here is what makes it challenging. The mental intensity and fitness that’s required here. Conditions are challenging, but I think 35 overs till the second new ball, it gets easier to bat. It’s about mental fitness.”
As Shubman Gill calls young Indian batters fearless, With two India vs Australia matches in the rearview, the third, fourth, and fifth matches will be played in Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney, respectively.
With the Border-Gavaskar Trophy standing at 1-1, Rohit Sharma’s men need to avoid any more losses and win this series convincingly if they are to qualify for the World Test Championship final in June 2025 without depending on other results.
