Ravi Shastri calls Virat Kohli Greatest IPL Player: Is Virat Kohli the greatest IPL player of all time? Well, he is certainly in the conversation. But despite being an absolute legend of the league and the sport in general, the 35-year-old is still waiting for his first IPL trophy after 16 years of wait. Now, Ravi Shastri has commented on his lack of trophies.
Virat Kohli has scored 7466 runs in the IPL with an average of 37.71. He has scored 52 half-centuries and seven 100s. His run tally is the most by any batter in IPL history. Not only that, but no other batter in league history has even broken the 7000 run mark. He has scored all those runs playing for just one franchise, Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
The records don’t stop here. Kohli has scored the most centuries in IPL history. He also holds the record for scoring the most runs in an IPL season as he scored a whopping 973 runs in the 2016 season. That season, he also scored four 100s, a joint record for most centuries in a single season.

Despite all that, Kolhi might be the only Indian great of the T20 generation to have never won the IPL. His peers like MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma, and Jasprit Bumrah have won the league five or more times. Even younger names like Hardik Pandya and Shubhman Gill have laid their hands on the trophy.
While RCB has reached the IPL final on three occasions (2009, 2011, 2016), they have failed to win the final contest on all three occasions.

With the likes of Rohit Sharma and Ambat Rayudu having won IPL six times, former Indian cricketer and coach Ravi Shastri summed up how great of a talent Virat Kohli has been for RCB and how the franchise has failed him over and over again by not winning the trophy in a single statement.
“Virat Kohli would’ve won the most trophies if IPL was an individual sport,” said Shastri.
It does not seem like RCB will be challenging for the title this season as well. In the four matches they have played, the team has only won a single match and is currently 8th on the table. The Royal Challengers will play the Rajasthan Royals in their next match on April 6 in Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium.
