Senior Players Blame Hardik Pandya For MI Woes: Mumbai Indians became the first team to be eliminated from IPL 2024, and it now seems that the senior players in the side have taken a stance against captain Hardik Pandya.
Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated the Lucknow Super Giants in Match 57 of the tournament in devastating fashion. While this result bears a lot on the fate of these two teams going forward in the tournament, it meant a lot more to MI, as they have now been eliminated following that result.
With eight points in 12 matches, the most points MI can get this season is 12. Three teams are already on 14 or more points, and at least one more team is guaranteed to go past the 12-point mark, which means the end of the season for the Mumbai-based franchise.

The team has struggled a lot this season, with big players not firing and inconsistent performances from most of the side. This can end up being the worst season for MI in the history of the IPL.
The biggest change in the team this year is the return of Hardik Pandya, who came back to the franchise after two successful years as the skipper of the Gujarat Titans. On returning to MI, Pandya was named the new captain of the side, replacing Rohit Sharma.

The Indian Express is not reporting that Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, and former captain Rohit are not thrilled with the team’s performance under the leadership of Pandya. They believe that the team did far better under Sharma.
Some players have also informed team staff and management that Pandya’s captaincy is solely to blame for MI’s woes this season. Players even brought up the issue during a recent team dinner, claims Indian Express.
It is being reported that following the recent defeat against the Delhi Capitals, Hardik blamed Tilak Varma for not having match awareness for getting run out during a big run chase. The blame game evolved into a massive argument between the two.
The fans were not thrilled with Hardik Pandya being announced as team captain before the season. It now feels like the skipper has lost his locker room as well.
Despite being eliminated from the tournament, MI will play their remaining league matches; the next of them will be against the Kolkata Knight Riders on May 14 in Kolkata’s Eden Gardens.
