The Royals made history in their first season by defeating Chennai Super Kings in the final. They came close to winning another championship in 2022, when they finished as runners-up to Gujarat Titans. Their other notable campaigns include playoff appearances in 2013, 2015, 2018, 2024 and 2026.
RR play their home matches at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, although they have also hosted fixtures in Guwahati. Riyan Parag became the team’s full-time captain ahead of IPL 2026, while Kumar Sangakkara serves as head coach and Director of Cricket.

2013: Rajasthan Reach the Playoffs in Mumbai
RR returned to the playoffs in 2013 after finishing among the top teams in the league stage. They reached Qualifier 2 but lost to the Mumbai Indians, ending their campaign before the final.

However, Rajasthan lost the final by seven wickets. Gujarat Titans chased down the target to win their first IPL championship, leaving the Royals as runners-up.
2024: Rajasthan Reach Qualifier 2
RR qualified for the playoffs in 2024 after a strong league-stage campaign. They defeated Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Eliminator but lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad in Qualifier 2.

Why RR Are Known for Developing Talent
RR have often invested in young players and given them opportunities to develop in the IPL. Their early success in 2008 came from a squad that combined experienced internationals with players who were not yet established stars.
The franchise continued that approach with players such as Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Riyan Parag and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. These players have contributed in different ways, helping Rajasthan remain competitive across multiple seasons.
The challenge for the Royals is to turn playoff appearances into another championship. Their 2022 final and 2026 playoff run showed that the team can compete near the top, but consistency across a full season remains important.
