Kohli Could Give a Fiery Reaction to Gambhir: Former RCB pacer Varun Aaron is expecting a fiery clash between two of Indian cricket’s biggest titans, Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir, on Friday night when the Royal Challengers Bengaluru host the Kolkata Knight Riders at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Match number 10 of the IPL 2024 will see a rivalry resume between Kohli and Gambhir, who will be charged up even more than usual as he is back at KKR in the form of their mentor.
Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir’s rivalry has a number of chapters. Gambhir was the one who gave a young Kohli his Man of the Match award for his maiden ODI ton. However, as Kohli rose and Gambhir was pushed out of the Indian team, things got eccentric.
It reached a crescendo when they had an ugly altercation during IPL 2013, also at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. After retirement, Gambhir used to regularly take swipes at Kohli’s captaincy for not winning a single IPL title for RCB or any ICC trophy for India.
Last year, Gambhir, who was the mentor of the Lucknow Super Giants, shushed the Chinnaswamy crowd after LSG defeated RCB in a last-over thriller. Then, in the return fixture in Lucknow, Gambhir and Kohli got involved in another ugly spat after Kohli had a tussle during the game with LSG pacer Naveen-ul-Haq.

Former India and RCB speedster Varun Aaron is doing broadcasting duties with Star Sports for the IPL 2024. On the show, Aaron spoke about the clash between Gambhir and Kohli. The former pacer said that Kohli’s reaction would be interesting to see when he sees Gambhir.
“I don’t want to cause trouble, but I am eager to see the intense matchup that will likely unfold outside the playing field when Gautam Gambhir stands near the Bengaluru dugout. It is hard to predict how Virat Kohli will react if he makes eye contact with his fiery former teammate in the Kolkata dugout, given Kohli’s competitive spirit,” Aaron said.
