Ellyse Perry Records Best Bowling Figures In WPL: Royal Challengers Bangalore’s star all-rounder Ellyse Perry registered the best bowling figures in the history of the Women’s Premier League during her side’s most recent match against the Mumbai Indians.
RCB took on MI in Match 19 of WPL 2024. This was the last league match for both sides and a crucial one for the Royal Challengers. The Smriti Mandhana-led side needed to win this contest to secure their place in the playoffs for the first time in team history.
RCB won the toss and chose to bat first. MI got a decent start on the good batting track of Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium. The Indians lost their first wicket at 43. After which, the dam broke.

In her second over, Ellyse Perry took her first wicket as she bowled Sajeevan Sajana. At this point, the score was 65/2 in 8.4 overs. From here, the Aussie all-rounder ate through the MI batting attack.
On the very next ball, Perry bowled opposition captain Harmanpreet Kaur on a golden duck. She then struck Amelia Kerr on the pad a couple of overs later. The umpire did not raise their finger, but a DRS review changed that. That’s three wickets for Perry.
In the same over, the 33-year-old bowled a beautiful in-swinger, dismissing Amanjeot Kaur by knocking the stumps over.
In her last over, Ellyse Perry took her fifth when she bowled Pooja Vastrakar, thus becoming only the fifth player in WPL history to take a 5fer. But she was not done for the night, as in the same over, the Aussie also bowled Nat Sciver-Brunt and became the first bowler in WPL to take six wickets in a match.
Ellyse Perry finished the innings with the amazing bowling figures of 6/15. Not only were these the best bowling figures in league history, but she also bowled five batters in the process, the most by any player in a match in franchise cricket history.
