Delhi Capitals Defeat Gujarat Giants WPL 2024: Delhi Capitals defeated the Gujarat GIants by 7 wickets to confirm their place in the final of WPL 2024.
It was Match 20 of WPL 2024, the final league match of the tournament and the Capitals were on top of the table even before the contest. The last year’s runner-ups were in a solid position to finish on top of the table as they faced bottom-of-the-table Gujarat Giants.

The match, taking place in Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium, saw the Giants win the toss and chose to bat first. But soon, this looked like the wrong choice as GG fell to 16/3 in just the fifth over.
The situation worsened when the Gujarat-based franchise fell to 48/5 in the 11th over. But from this point, Bharati Fulmali and Kathryn Emma Bryce stabilised the innings with a 68-run partnership.

Delhi Capitals Finish on Top of WPL 2024 Table
But that was not enough to get the side to a respectable score, as the Gujarat Giants were stopped on just 126 runs on this batting-friendly pitch.
The Capitals got off to a decent start but then lost the wickets of captain Meg Lanning and Alice Capsey in the fourth over. But by this time, Delhi’s star-batter Shafali Verma had already taken over.
By the time Shafali got out for 71 in 37 balls, the Capitals were just two runs away from victory. At this point, Jemimah Rodrigues, who had supported Shafali with a 28-ball-38, hit a boundary to register Delhi’s sixth win in the tournament.
With this victory, Delhi Capitals ensured that they will finish on top of the WPL table for the second year in a row and will automatically qualify for the final. They will face the winner of the Eliminator between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore in the final of the 2024 Women’s Premier League on Sunday, March 17
