As confirmed by the BCCI on Saturday, the new season opens on January 9 in Navi Mumbai, with defending champions Mumbai Indians meeting Royal Challengers Bengaluru, a fixture now familiar as the league’s marquee curtain-raiser.
This fourth edition will be shared between two venues, each with its own rhythm. Navi Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium assumes the first tranche of 11 games across nine days, a brisk start that mirrors the WPL’s growing appetite for certainty in scheduling. From January 18, the league relocates to Vadodara for the remaining 11 fixtures, beginning with Gujarat Giants facing RCB.
The league phase closes on February 1, trimmed to two double-header days, January 10 and 17, both earmarked for UP Warriorz’ afternoon assignments. The Eliminator on February 3 will determine the finalists’ companion, with the table-topper rewarded by a direct path to the decider on February 5 at the Reliance Stadium.
Team compositions are already settled following the first-ever WPL mega auction, an event that hinted at a league now fully aware of its commercial gravity.
