DC vs LSG Match Highlights And Report-IPL: Delhi Capitals ended their league phase in IPL 2024 with a 19-run win over Lucknow Super Giants. They end the league stage with 14 points, and LSG, too, can reach 14 points. Yet, both teams are all but out of the playoff race: DC is fifth in the points table with 14 points and LSG is seventh with 12 points and a game in hand, but since both have poor net run rates, their chances for the playoffs are unrealistic at this point.
At the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, Abishek Porel and Tristan Stubbs starred with the bat for DC before Ishant Sharma rocked LSG with a three-for with the new ball in defense of 208. The match still remained alive till the last over as Nicholas Pooran and Arshad Khan blasted half-centuries at strike rates of more than 175, but DC eventually escaped by 19 runs.

KL Rahul won the toss and elected to bowl first, and LSG got off to a great start with the wicket of Jake Fraser-McGurk for a duck in the first over by Arshad Khan, caught at long-on. Porel and Shai Hope took a toll in the powerplay through a 21-run over of Arshad, 16 runs against Yudhvir Singh Charak, and 17 against Naveen-ul-Haq.
After finishing the powerplay on 73/1, DC lost both set batters, Hope for 38 runs to Ravi Bishnoi and Porel to Naveen after scoring 58 (33). Pant, who missed DC’s last game due to a suspension, was slow to start—he was 15 (12)—and eventually got out to Naveen for 33 (23).
Tristan Stubbs provided the much-needed late flourish for DC. Stubbs, who has arguably been the best death-over batsman in this season, smoked two fours and a six to Arshad before hammering two sixes and a four to Naveen. Stubbs raised his half-century in the 19th over of the innings, reaching the milestone in only 22 balls. DC ended with 208.

Veteran pacer Ishant Sharma got the new ball to swing and wobble to induce miscues from KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock and had Deepak Hooda lbw by beating his inside edge. At the other end, Axar Patel dismissed Marcus Stoinis, stumped. This left LSG reeling at 44/4 in 4.1 overs.
Then came fireworks from Nicholas Pooran, who walloped two fours and two sixes in an over from Axar before taking down Mukesh Kumar; Kuldeep Yadav was not spared either by the West Indian.
Even though Ayush Badoni and Krunal Pandya didn’t offer much support to Pooran, the West Indian kept going at it, sending the likes of Gulbadin Naib and Mukesh Kumar to the boundary line. However, Mukesh eventually got rid of Pooran as the batter slapped a short ball to cover.
That, though, wasn’t the end of LSG’s fight, as Arshad clobbered 5 sixes and 3 fours. And although Arshad couldn’t take LSG over the line in the end, his knock of 58* off 33 meant that DC didn’t have the big win they were looking for to boost their net run rate.
Score summary: Delhi Capitals 208/4 in 20 overs (Abishek Porel 58, Naveen-ul-Haq 2/51); Lucknow Super Giants 189/9 in 20 overs (Nicholas Pooran 61, Ishant Sharma 3/34). DC defeated LSG by 19 runs.
