This was a great example of honesty and the spirit of the sport in the beautiful game.

As stated above, Al-Nassr took on Iranian side Persepolis in a Group E match of the AFC Champions League on Monday, November 27. In just the second minute of the match, Ronaldo was brought down in the opposition box.
Chinese referee Ma Ning instantly pointed to the spot to signal for a penalty, but CR7 thought otherwise. Now, in this situation, any player and team would happily take the penalty and look for an early lead in the match, but not Cristiano, who wagged his finger at the referee, gesturing that it was not a penalty.

This prompted the referee to check the tackle on VAR, and the video replay, coupled with Ronaldo’s honesty, saved Persepolis.
Besides that, it was not a good night for Ronaldo. Not only did the match end in a goalless draw, but the Portuguese legend had to be substituted with 12 minutes remaining on the clock when the opposition goalkeeper Alireza Beiranvand landed on him while claiming a highball. This clash resulted in what seemed like a scary neck injury for Ronaldo.
The draw match was a little more understandable for Al-Nassr considering they played most of the match with one man short, as defender Ali Alawjami was given a straight red card for an explosive tackle gone wrong in the 17th minute.
The result did not have any harm on AL-Nassr’s season, as the side had already confirmed their spot in the knockout stages of the AFC Champions League. After five matches in Group E, Cristiano Ronaldo’s team is on 13 points and on the top of the group, five ahead of second places Persepolis on 8.
