The Australian Cricket Team beats India in the second ODI of this three game series, winning the match by two wickets on their way to winning the series.

The second of three Australia vs India ODIs was played at the Adelaide Oval today. The home side won the toss and decided to bowl first on a pitch that was expected to provide bowlers with some decent movement throughout the match.

Australia vs India: Aussies Beat India In 2nd ODI To Win Series

The Australian pace trio of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazelwood, and Xavier Bartlett hot the deck hard at the start of the match. Not only were the the bowling fast and fierce, but were also making the ball move around like a Brazilian free kick.

In the first six overs, The Indian openers strolled hard, making only 17 runs. While Capetian Shubman Gill was doing fine, veteran opener Rohit Sharma was even finding to connect the baat to the ball difficult.

However, it was Gill who was dismissed first. Looking to hot Bartlett down the ground, the skipper instead chipped the ball and was caught at mid-off, 17/1.

This over went from bad to worse for India when, just four balls later, Virat Kohli was trapped in front of the stumps by a ball that just nipped back enough. This was Kohli’s second duck dismissal in as many games, 17/2.

After a double-wicket maiden, the Men in Blue were in deep trouble. But this was when Rohit Sharma mounted a rescue with vice-captain Shreyas Iyer. The two Mumbai batters stayed at the crease till the 30th over, making 118 runs together.

While Aiyer looked comfortable right from the get go, Rohit took a lot of time to find his footing. But once he found his rhythm, the former Indian Cricket Team captain hit the ground running.

Son, both men would reach their half-century, taking India will past the 100-run mark.

However, the third wicket was to come in the 30th over. Robot Sharma looked to hit his signature pull shot to Mitchell Starc, and was promptly caught behind square. He made 73 off 97 and after this wicket, the Indian score was 135/3.

Over the next 20 overs, Indian batters world come in, get off to a decent start to their inning, and get out before making big runs.

First, Shreyas Iyer departed soon after Rohit’s wicket, bowled by aadam zampa for 61 off 77, 160/4. KL Rahul got out after only making 11 runs, 174/5

Washington Sundar did not make much of an impact too, scoring just 12 before becoming Bartlett’s third wicket of the day.

The only batter in the last seven to make any proper runs was Azar Patel, who made 44 off 41. Couple that with a decent 24 runs by Harshit Rana and 13 by Arshdeep Singh, and India dragged themselves to 264/9 in their alloted 50 overs.

While the target set by India want the biggest, the challenging nature of the pitch was sure to turn this game into a close one.

While the Australian got off to a decent time. Both the openers would get out before the 13th over. Captain Mitchell Marsh struggled to make 11 off 24 before getting caught behind off Arshdeep Singh, while Travis Head feel victim to Harshit Rana after making 28 runs, 54/2.

But then, the two Matts, those being Matt Short and Matt Renshaw, further a 50 run partnership, trying to mount a rescue. By the time Renshaw got out for 30 off 30, the Australian score was 109/3.

Wicketkeeper Alex Carey got out for cheap, and Matt Short world make 74 runs before getting out. At this point, the Kangaroos were at 187/5 at the end of 36 overs.

At a time the Australian Cricket Team needed a partnership to take them home, one would arrive in the shape of all-rounders Cooper Connolly and Mitchell Owen. Their 79 run partnership took the Aussies to a sniffing distance to the target.

With just 18 runs required in 45 balls, with for wickets to spare and Connolly on strike with a 50, out was going to be way for Australia. But the Indian Cricket Team bowlers would create a scare. Quick wickets of Xavier Bartlett and Mitchell Starc brought the score to 260/8, two good deliveries away from an Indian victory.

But then, cooper Connolly took charge and scored the winning runs. And this, Australia win this match by two-wickets with 22 balls to spare.

For his excellent spell of 4/60, Adam Zampa was named the Player of the Match.

With this win, the Aussies have clenched this Australia vs India ODI series. The third game of this series will be played on Saturday, October 25 at the Sydney Cricket Ground. That match will see the home side play for a complete whitewash win, while the visitors will play for bragging rights.
