Aakash Chopra Compliments KKR Explosive Batting: Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has named the Kolkata Knight Riders as the most explosive batting side in IPL 2024, claiming they have a better batting unit than Sunrisers Hyderabad.
KKR took on the Lucknow Super Giants in Match 54 of IPL 2024 in Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium. Having been put to bat first by the home side, the Knight Riders blistered past the 200-run mark and scored an impressive 235 on the back of an impressive 81-off-39 inning by Sunil Narine.
In response, the Super Giants were never in the game. They lost constant wickets and couldn’t even maintain the run rate. Dismissed for 137, LSG lost the match by a whopping 98 runs.
Both KKR and SRH have crossed the 250-run mark twice this season. While it might be the Sunrisers who have the two-highest scores in IPL history, KKR is not far behind and has slotted two scores into the top 10.
The difference between the two sides seems to be the bowling. While SRH’s bowling attack has been very hit-and-miss this season, KKR has taken consistent wickets and has been winning matches by big margins.
Aakash Chopra Compliments KKR Explosive Batting
Aakash Chopra reviewed the KKR vs. LSG game on his YouTube channel. Speaking about Kolkata’s batting in this match and throughout the tournament, he had this to say:
“They went to Lucknow’s gully and treated them like you do in gully cricket. The definition of a one-sided encounter was explained, and Lucknow were handed the biggest defeat of their two-and-a-half-year career. Who was saying SunRisers Hyderabad is the most explosive team of this year’s tournament? It’s KKR.”
He further went on to dive deep into how KKR dominated LSG in the match.
“They have gone beyond 200 six times and when you score 235 runs, it means the match is totally in your grasp because it wouldn’t matter even if a little dew came as you had (Sunil) Narine, Varun Chakaravarthy, Harshit Rana, Mitchell Starc, Vaibhav Arora and Andre Russell. They are a perfect team,” he said.
With that win, KKR climbed to the top of the league table with eight wins and 16 points in 11 matches. They have played one match more than the second-placed Rajasthan Royals, who also are on 16 points.
In their next match, KKR will play a down-and-out Mumbai Indians on May 11 in Kolkata’s Eden Gardens.
