Stephanie Vaquer won back the WWE Women’s World Championship on Saturday. She beat Liv Morgan in her home country of Chile. The match took place at an untelevised WWE event in Santiago. It was held at the Movistar Arena.
Becky Lynch was the special guest referee. She played a big part in how the match ended. Video from the final moments showed Lynch and Morgan arguing. Morgan slapped Lynch. Morgan then hit her finisher, Oblivion, and covered Vaquer. Lynch counted to two. Then she stopped. She held up both middle fingers at Morgan instead of finishing the count.
Vaquer then hit the SVB and the top-rope Vaquer Inferno. She pinned Morgan. Lynch counted to three. That gave Vaquer the championship.
Paul “Triple H” Levesque posted about the title change. He wrote that history was made in Santiago. He called Vaquer the new WWE Women’s World Champion. WWE also shared footage of Vaquer celebrating. They called it an unforgettable night for Chile.
This is Vaquer’s second reign with the title. Her first began in September 2025. She beat IYO SKY for the vacant title at Wrestlepalooza. Morgan ended that reign at WrestleMania 42 in April. She had help from Judgement Day members Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez.
Vaquer got another chance on Monday’s Raw. Morgan retained again after Judgement Day interfered. Perez handed the belt to Morgan. Morgan used it against Vaquer before hitting Oblivion. Raw General Manager Adam Pearce then announced another title match for Saturday in Santiago. He named Lynch as the special guest referee.
Morgan had retained against Vaquer at a Friday live event in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She lost the championship the following night.
Makes WWE History With First Main Roster World Title Change at House Show Since 1994
Stephanie Vaquer won back the WWE Women’s World Championship in Santiago. Her win over Liv Morgan happened at a live event. It was not shown on TV. This made it a rare moment in WWE history. It was the first time a main roster world title changed hands at a house show since 1994.
The last similar change took place on November 26, 1994. That night, Diesel beat Bob Backlund in just eight seconds. The match was at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Diesel won the WWE Championship. That was almost 32 years before Vaquer’s win. Before that, Bret Hart beat Ric Flair on October 12, 1992. That match was in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. It was a non-televised event. Hart won his first WWE Championship there.
WWE has had other title changes at house shows. On April 24, 2007, Mickie James beat Melina for the Women’s Championship in Paris. But Melina won the title back the same night. On April 21, 2016, Samoa Joe beat Finn Balor for the NXT Championship. That ended Balor’s 292-day reign. The match was in Lowell, Massachusetts.
Vaquer’s win involved a main roster world title. The change was also not reversed the same night. Becky Lynch was the special guest referee. She played a decisive role in Vaquer’s victory.
