Rauf also acted out a crashing plane motion to mock India, sparking outrage and boos from the crowd. Sahibzada Farhan celebrated his fifty with a gun-firing gesture using his bat. Indian fans had been chanting “Kohli, Kohli,” reminding him of Virat Kohli’s six off his bowling in 2022. Rauf’s actions went viral on social media and drew criticism for being provocative.
The ICC has received BCCI’s e-mail complaint, and hearings may be held if the players deny the charges. Pakistan’s PCB has also filed a complaint against Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav. The PCB claims Surya’s dedication of India’s September 14 victory to the armed forces and Pahalgam terror attack victims was political. Such complaints must be filed within seven days of the remark, and the timeline of PCB’s filing is unclear. Both matters are expected to be taken up by ICC referee Richie Richardson.
