On Wednesday, Neeraj Chopra, the Olympic gold medalist and renowned Indian javelin thrower, was spotted training in Potchefstroom, South Africa for the upcoming season. The Sports Authority of India (SAI) shared footage of Neeraj exercising and refining his javelin throwing abilities on Twitter. As per Neeraj Chopra Trains In South Africa For Upcoming Season, Neeraj’s admirers can witness his performance at various upcoming events. These include the World Athletics Championships in August, the Asian Games 2022 in China in September, and the Diamond League, which is an exclusive athletics competition.
Despite missing out on the Commonwealth Games 2022 due to an injury, Neeraj had an incredible year in 2022.
During the Paavo Nurmi Games in Finland in June, Neeraj achieved a new national record and secured a silver medal with a throw of 89.30 meters. This surpassed his previous national record of 88.07 meters, which he had set in Patiala in March of the previous year.
Neeraj delivered another outstanding performance in June, winning the gold medal at the 2022 Kuortane Games in Finland. Despite challenging and damp conditions, he threw 86.69 meters to secure the top prize.
Neeraj Chopra created history at the World Athletics Championships in July by becoming the first male track and field athlete from India to win a medal. He secured the second position and won a silver medal with a throw of 88.13 metres, achieving his goal of winning a World medal. Prior to Neeraj, Anju Bobby George had won a bronze medal for India in the long jump competition.
Chopra achieved a historic feat in September by winning the Diamond League trophy, a top-tier athletics competition, and becoming the first-ever Indian to do so. He secured this victory with the best throw of 88.44 meters, which is one of the biggest wins of his career.
Thanks to his throw of 89.94 metres in the Stockholm Diamond League, he now holds the male javelin record, breaking his own previous record. He secured a silver medal at the prestigious Diamond League meet in Stockholm while breaking his own record.
