Top 5 Run Scorers In IPL 2025: The 2025 season of the Indian Premier League is coming to an end, as we will get a first-time winner of the league since 2022. The Punjab Kings will take on the Royal Challengers in the final, which will be played in the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
With only one match remaining in the tournament, it is time to look back at the season and highlight some of the best players of IPL 2025. More specifically, we will look at the top five run scorers of this season. The highest scorer will get the Orange Cap, which will be given after the final match concludes. With four out of the top five players not playing in the final, it is very likely that this order will not change a lot even after the RCB vs PBKS game.
These are the top 5 run scorers of IPL 2025.
Top 5 Run Scorers In IPL 2025
5) Virat Kohli – RCB
Virat Kohli has had another stellar season in the Indian Premier League. The batting maestro has been making over 600 runs in the IPL every season since 2023, and he has done it again in 2025, as he has made 614 runs in 14 matches so far. His form has played a massive role in the Royal Challengers Bengaluru reaching their fourth-ever final. He is also the only batter in the top five to play in the final and will be able to improve his ranking.
Virat has scored these runs at a brilliant average of 55.82 and a strike rate of 146.53. This says that while opening the inning for RCB this season, Kohli has regularly given his team excellent starts.
The 36-year-old has also scored eight half-centuries this season, which is the most by any player this season. His highest score in IPL 2025 has been 73*, which he scored against the Punjab Kings in New Chandigarh.
While Virat Kohli is fifth on this list, the spotlight should also go to PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer, who is currently the sixth-highest run-getter this season with 603 runs in 16 matches. He will also play in the final and can improve his rank on this list.

4) Mitchell Marsh – LSG
Before this season, Mitchell Marsh seemingly never cracked the Indian Premier League. Despite being one of the best all-rounders in international cricket, Mitchell never had a solid season in the IPL like his brother Shaun Marsh, who won the Orange Cap in the inaugural 2008 season. But in 2025, the younger Marsh brother has done it and had a solid season in the biggest T20 league in the world.
Opening for the Lucknow Super Giants, he, along with South Africa’s Aiden Markram, formed one of the best opening pairs in IPL 2025. Mitchell Amrsh was clearly the more attacking and higher-scoring batter of the two, making 627 runs this season in just 13 matches with an average of 48.23 and an awesome strike rate of 163.70.
The Aussie scored six half-centuries and a century this season, the latter being a fantastic 117 against the Gujarat Titans in the team’s second-to-last game of the season.
3) Shubman Gill – GT
The new captain of the Indian Test team has had a great IPL season once again, and this time as the captain of his franchise. Not only did Shubman Gill perform with the bat throughout the season, but he also took his game to the playoffs, even keeping them at the top of the table for much of the season. This is his sixth season in a row with over 400 runs.
Gill has made 650 runs in IPL 2025 in 15 matches at an average of 50 and a strike rate of 155.87. The opening pair of Shubman and Sai Sudharsan was the best opening duo this season, and it was the two opening batters, along with Jos Buttler at No. 3, who pulled the team to the playoffs.
Gill has scored six half-centuries this season, with his highest score being a 93* coming against the Delhi Capitals in Delhi.
2) Suryakumar Yadav – MI
The Indian T20I team captain has had the most consistent season ever seen in the IPL. This is because in all the 16 matches he played this season, Suryakumar Yadav made at least 25 runs in all of them. Nothing like this has been done in the Indian Premier League. This is by far the most productive season for a batter in a Mumbai Indians jersey, as SKY has made more runs than even the great Sachin Tendulkar in 2010, the year he won the Orange Cap.
Suryakumar has scored 717 runs in 16 matches in IPL 2025 at an unbelievable average of 65/18 and an eye-watering strike rate of 167.91. In multiple matches this season, he led his team to victory almost single-handedly; from anchoring an inning to accelerating when needed, he has done it all this season.
Yadav has scored six half-centuries this season, with his highest score being a fine 73* against the Delhi Capitals in Delhi.
1) Sai Sudharsan – GT
Sai Sudharsan has had one of the greatest seasons for a batter in IPL history, especially for a player who still meets the criteria to be announced the Emerging Player of the Season. Along with team captain Shubman Gill, Sai has formed the third greatest partnership in IPL history, making 912 runs together, just 27 runs shy of becoming the best pair in IPL history. While the skipper did play a massive role in that, Sai was clearly the more prominent batter of the two this season.
Sudharsan has made 759 runs in 15 matches this season with an average of 54.21 and a strike rate of 156.17. Winning many games for his team by batting the opposition out of the match along with Gill and Buttler, the 23-year-old has become the fifth-highest run scorer in an IPL season ever, behind greats like Virat Kohli, David Warner, and his teammates Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler.
He will clearly win the IPL 2025 Orange Cap, unless Kohli makes 146 runs or more in the final, which is almost impossible. Shreyas Iyer can win the cap too if he scores 157 runs, another unbelievable feat.
Sai Sudharsan has scored six half-centuries this season and a century. His highest score in IPL 2025 was a stunning 108* against the Delhi Capitals in Delhi.
