Aakash Chopra Compares RCB W To Paksitan: Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has compared the disappointing form of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the ongoing season of the Women’s Premier League 2025 to the recent woeful form of the Pakistan Men’s Cricket Team.
RCB is the defending champion of this league. At the start of the WPL 2025 season, they played like defending champs, winning their first two matches in a row and that too in a fine manner. However, since the two wins, the Royal Challengers have lost three games in a row and have come tumbling down from first to third in the league table.
Despite winning the WPL 2024 and having arguably the most star-studded squad in the league, RCB has been beyond disappointing in recent matches. First, they were beaten by the Mumbai Indians in a very close match before losing to the UP Warriorz in the Super Over.

While those two losses were quite close and could be attributed to a bad roll of dice, Smriti Mandhana’s team’s most recent loss against bottom-of-the-table Gujarat Giants seems like an actual drop in form for the RCB. While batting first at their home ground, the Bengaluru-based team could only score 125 runs. The small total was chased down with six wickets and 21 deliveries to spare by the Giants, who are statistically the worst team in WPL history. This means that they have lost all three of their matches at Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Another team experiencing a dismal run of form is the Pakistan Cricket Team. Before hosting the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 at home, they lost in the final of a tri-series to New Zealand. Then, in CT 2025, they lost their opening game to the Kiwis at home before being thrashed by India in Dubai. With their third and final match against Bangladesh washed away, the Men in Green finished the first ICC tournament they hosted at home in 29 years without winning a game.

Aakash Chopra, in a recent video on his YouTube channel, highlighted how the Royal Challengers Bengaluru failed to win a single match at their home ground, saying,
“RCB are the defending champions. They played extremely well last year and lifted the trophy. They didn’t play well the year before that. They started the tournament very well this year. They chased 200. They were outstanding. However, then the Vadodara leg ended, they reached the RCB ground, and they haven’t won a single match since.”
He then went on to compare RCB’s situation to that of Pakistan, saying both teams have had an affinity to lose at home recently.
“They lost in the Super Over when the match got tied. Obviously, there is a slight disadvantage of the toss as they are getting to bat first, but you want to start winning at some stage. Their situation is like Pakistan. Their home doesn’t suit them, and this happens with their men’s team as well,” said Chopra.
The former Indian Cricket Team opener then went on to claim that despite their team’s results, RCB fans would always support their team, claiming,
“The entire ground is completely filled in both their men’s and women’s matches. Harmanpreet (Kaur) had to put her fingers in her ears as the crowd was so loud in the RCB-MI match. They win my heart, as this is loyalty. There is no give and take in that relationship.”
Currently third on the points table with two wins, four matches, and a positive net run rate in five matches, they will face the Delhi Capitals in the rematch of the 2024 season final today in the upcoming match. This match seems like a must-win for the Royal Challengers if they are to make it to the playoffs.
