Champions Trophy 2025 Power Rankings: The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is upon us. The tournament, to be played in Pakistan and the UAE, will see seven of the top ODI teams in the world (and Bangladesh) compete in a Super League-style tournament to determine who is the best of the best.

These power rankings show which teams have the better chances of lifting this trophy among those participating. The better your rank, the better the chances of them winning this competition.

Today, we will look at the Champions Trophy 2025 Power Rankings and see which team is the favourite to win it all.

Champions Trophy 2025 Power Rankings: Who Are Favourites to Win

8) Bangladesh

To the surprise of absolutely no one, Bangladesh is at the bottom of the rankings. Many believe that this team doesn’t even belong in this tournament. This can be seen by the fact that they are currently ninth in the ICC ODI rankings and in this tournament in the place of the fifth-ranked Sri Lanka.

While they have a decent bowling order, two of the team’s best batters, Litton Das and Tamim Iqbal, are not in this squad for varying reasons. Despite that, their batting core is on the older side with the inclusion of the likes of Mahmadullah and wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim. This team is not making it to the playoffs.

7) Afghanistan

Many people want this team to do well, understandably so. And frankly, this team can be above the team above in these power rankings. But there are a few reasons that make Afghanistan the favourites to finish bottom of their group.

This is a side that has relied on their bowling attack to win matches. But that very bowling attack has two of its aces removed. Pace bowler Naveen Ul Haq has retired from ODI cricket and will not appear in the Champions Trophy, while young spinner Allah Ghazanfar is out of this tournament as well due to injuries. And then comes the batting, where Afghanistan has a lot of talent, but will these T20 players be able to perform in the trickly 50-over format, it remains to be seen.

6) England

While it may surprise some to see the Three Lions so low in these power rankings, those who have seen the English play and fail in ODI cricket over the past two years will understand this. From barely qualifying for the Champions Trophy to losing series after series. It seems like this team, in their attempts to apply the Bazball formula to ODI cricket, has failed in this endeavour.

Since the disastrous performance in the 2023 ODI World Cup, this team lost an ODI series 2-1 to the West Indies, lost 3-2 against Australia, lost 2-1 again against the Windies, and most recently has been thrashed 3-0 against India. Despite the presence of superstars in this team, they seem to have no clue as to how to win ODI matches. This puts them so low in the CT 2025 power rankings.

5) Pakistan

This might be a little controversial, seeing that the majority of this tournament will be played on their home soil, but the Pakistan Cricket Team has recently shown that they might not be able to play the role of the strong and challenging home team in this competition. However, one must remember that not only are they the defending champions, but the Men in Green are highly unpredictable and can catch fire and win the trophy at any point.

However, looking at their recent form, which saw them lose the recent tri-series at home to New Zealand, is not looking too good. This team is also missing a few of their big batting pieces. The promising Saim Ayub is missing due to an injury, while Abdullah Shafique will miss due to poor form. But this team also has some of the top names in world cricket, and if this team gels and fires, they will make a deep run in the Champions Trophy once more.

4) Australia

The defending ODI World Champions will go into the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 with a limp squad. This means that while they have a lot of name and star power on their side, the Aussies also have a few big omissions from this side. From the team that became world champions about 18 months ago, David Warner has retired, while the likes of Marcus Stoinis and Mitchell Marsh and the pace trio of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood have withdrawn from this tournament.

In the last year, while the Aussies have defeated the West Indies and England in the ODI series, they first lost to Pakistan at home and were thrashed by Sri Lanka. But on Pakistani pitches, which are expected to be flatter, the Australian batting order has the ability to bat the opposition out of the game, while a modern-day great like Adam Zampa can lead the bowling attack.

3) South Africa

South Africa is so high up on this list despite having only one ODI series since the 2023 ODI World Cup, losing against the likes of Afghanistan, and coming third in the recent tri-series against Pakistan and New Zealand. With that being said, this looks like the team that will enter the competition with the least amount of injury woes. A team that seems to have finally gelled together and have all of their bases covered. Also, the team that played in the tri-series was very different from the CT 2025 one.

Under the captaincy of Temba Bavuma, this team has gotten some great results in the last year. They did qualify for the World Test Championship final for the first time in 2025. In the 2024 T20 World Cup, under Aiden Markram, the Proteas also reached the final of the competition and nearly won it all.

2) New Zealand

A team like New Zealand never looks like the favourite to win it all in a tournament setting. But it must be remembered that they have been the most consistent side in the ICC tournament in the last five years. And yes, while several of their big-name players have gotten older and some have even retired, the BlackCaps have successfully brought in young and new games.

This team’s average age is well over 30, and this might be the last opportunity for many of these players to win a white-ball ICC tournament. This might bring out the best in veterans like Kane Williamson, Daryl Mitchell, Mitchell Stantner, and Devon Conway. The only injury concern for this side is the absence of in-form pacer Ben Sears.

1) India

The Indian Cricket Team is by far the favourite for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The team is in great form and has the best squad. The only one who can stop this side from winning this competition is themselves.

First, the negatives:: Jasprit Bumrah will not be part of this squad due to injuries. Promising young batter Yashasvi Jaiswal and Mohammed Siraj will also miss this tournament. There might also be too many spinners on this side,, and Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s recent form might be concerning, despite the two getting at least one good inning.

But the positives of this team far outweigh the negatives. Firstly, despite a few omissions, the players that are in this team are not only all world-class but have also shown some great form in recent times. This team as a whole is in great form, thrashing England 3-0 in the recent ODI series after defeating the English 4-1 in a T20I series. Then comes the exquisite form of the likes of Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, and Venkatesh Iyer, and the likes of Kuldeep Yadav, Hardik Pandya, and Arshdeep Singh being on top of their game. Finally, this might be the last opportunity for the veterans of the team to win a white-ball ICC tournament after 12 years.
