NXT Iron Survivor Contestants Announced: The first competitors for the men’s and women’s Iron Survivor Challenge matches were announced on this week’s episode of NXT as the brand heads towards their upcoming PLE, NXT Deadline.
The Iron Survivor Challenge is a staple of the brand now. Every year, two of these matches, one for men and one for women, take place at the Deadline premium live event.
This match type is a variation of the Championship Scramble match. The match is 25 minutes long and sees two superstars start as the timer begins. Every five minutes, another superstar enters, with the fifth and final one entering at the 15-minute mark. Every time a participant pins or submits an opponent, or is the victim of a disqualification, they gain one point. The one with the most points at the end of the 25-minute timer wins.
There are other, smaller rules at play here as well. But the most important aspect of it all is that the winners of the men’s and women’s matches receive a shot at the NXT Championship and the NXT Women’s Championship, respectively.
NXT Iron Survivor Contestants Announced
The Iron Survivor matches will take place at the NXT Deadline on December 7. Five men’s and five women’s qualification matches will take place in the coming weeks. The first two men’s qualifying bouts took place today. The first saw Wes Lee take on Cedric Alexander. With underhanded means, it was Lee who won the match and qualified. The second qualifier was between Je’Von Evans and Lexis King, with Evans picking up the win.
In the women’s bracket, Sol Ruca defeated Cora Jade to qualify for the match. So far she is the only confirmed participant. But NXT General Manager Ava announced that new stars Giulia and Stephanie Vaquer will have qualifying matches in the coming weeks.
The winner of the men’s Iron Survivor match will face NXT Champion Trick Williams. But Williams will have to defend his title at Deadline as well. This week, it was expected that Ridge Holland would face Trick for the belt at the PLE. But then Andre Chase inserted himself into the program as well. So next week, Chase and Holland will face off to determine the No. 1 contender for the title.
Trick Williams is the current champion. But he first won the opportunity to challenge for the title by winning the Iron Survivor in 2023. While Blair Davenport won the women’s match.
