Football World Reacts to Vini Jr Ballon dOr Snub: Like many other Ballon dOr nights, the 2024 edition of the award night was also drama-filled. Though the Rodri vs Vinicius warfare was active online among fans, it took its peak when the football world realized that the whole Real Madrid contingent was not traveling to the Ballon d’Or award ceremony.
Due to that, it was almost sure that the Ballon d’Or would go to Manchester City star, as all the other potential winners were from the Santiago Bernabeu, including Euro 2024 winning Dani Carvajal and his colleague at Real Madrid, Jude Bellingham. This sent the football world to erupt, and even before the announcement of the winner, the support posts for Vinicius Jr. were all over the internet, many from existing and previous players.
It got even stronger after Rodri was announced the winner, as many footballers, especially from Real Madrid and Brazil, came to social media backing Vini.

Football World Reacts to Vini Jr Ballon dOr Snub
Real Madrid’s French midfielder Eduardo Camavinga showered love to his colleague and sent a dig at the most controversial football award in the world.
‘’FOOTBALL POLITICS ❌ My brother you are the best player in the world and no award can say otherwise. Love you my bro,” said Camavinga
Vinicius’ former teammate and 2022 Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema posted a picture on Instagram captioned ”Too Strong”
Brazilian footballer Richalison slammed Ballon d’Or criteria and said that ‘football lost out today’.
“Today, all football-loving Brazilians woke up expecting to see another of our country’s players winning a World Player of the Year award after so long. Unfortunately, due to criteria that nobody can understand, the award didn’t come. And don’t get me wrong, Rodri is a great player who deserves to be among the best,” he wrote.
“But for Vini not to win the Ballon d’Or was embarrassing, and only football lost out today. I remember Vini saying that his dream was to see the whole of Brazil cheering him on. And that day was today! You’re a giant and the best in the world, kid! And no trophy is going to change that. Keep going and never shut up! I’m with you. “
Real Madrid young talent Aurélien Tchouaméni backed Vini on X:
“Nothing will take away what you’ve achieved my brother. We ALL know… They are not ready for what you’re gonna deliver. Love.”
