The Round of 16 of the UEFA Euros 2024 has come to an end, and we now have the final eight teams in this competition. With some of the biggest teams in the World having made it to this round, some of the most exciting international football is about to kick off.
We not only know all the teams that have made it to the quarter-finals, but also which teams will face whom. There are a lot of blockbuster matches here.
While some teams made it to the quarters with relative ease, some had to scratch and claw in their Round of 16 clash to make it here. So without further ado, these are all the teams and fixtures in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Euro 2024, and who will likely win those games.
UEFA Euros 2024 Quarter Finals Preview
1) Spain vs Germany
In what might be the biggest match of this tournament so far, the two best teams in the Euros will face each other in the quarter-finals. It would be a shame that the journey of one of these teams will end here, as both of them deserved at least a place in the semis. This match will be played on July 5, in Stuttgart’s MHPArena at 9:30 p.m. (IST).
Spain is the only team in the competition so far to have won all their games. They secured wins over Italy, Croatia, and Albania in the group before thrashing Georgia in the Round of 16.
As for Germany, the home team topped Group A after solid wins over Scotland and Hungary, before drawing a game against Switzerland. In the Round of 16, they defeated a tricky Denmark side to reach here.
While Germany has been solid in this competition and is playing at home, Spain has just been better. Be it their fine attack, their solid defence, or their young midfield, they have fired on all cylinders. So yes, on the basis of pure on-field action, Spain is a little ahead of the hosts. The winner of this game will be on top of the list of the favourites to win the Euros
2) Portugal vs France
A repeat of the 2016 Euros final, Portugal and France have had very different journeys to the quarters. This match will be played on July 6, at 12:30 a.m. in Hamburg’s Volksparkstadion.
Portugal defeated Czechia and Turkiye in Group F to top it before losing 2-0 to Georgia in the final game of the group, this was after they played a rotated squad. The Iberian side then defeated Slovenia via penalties to make it here.
As for France, they have had a severely underwhelming tournament so far. The 2018 World Cup winners won 1-0 against Austria before drawing their matches against the Netherlands and Poland in Group D to finish second. They then defeated a weakened Belgium side to make it to this stage.
Despite their recent issues in the attack, Portugal has looked like a far better side in UEFA Euros 2024. The underwhelming play of France will be tested against one of its fellow favourites for the first time in this tournament. With how this competition has fared so far, Portugal will be the favourites to win this one.

3) England vs Switzerland
This game has all the fireworks to be the unexpected sleeper hit of this round. This game will be played on July 6, at 9:30 p.m. in the Merkur Spiel-Arena in Dusseldorf.
In Group C, England won against Serbia before drawing against Denmark and Slovenia. In what has been a snooze-fest of a campaign, the three Lions then defeated Slovakia in the Round of 16 after being the worst team for the whole match.
As for Switzerland, despite playing a more exciting brand of football, they too drew their games against Scotland and Germany in Group A before defeating Italy in the Round of 16.
While yes, Switzerland has been the better team in this tournament and should win this match, the sheer quality in the England squad might be too much for the Swiss, especially this deep in a major tournament like the UEFA Euros 2024.
4) Netherlands vs Turkiye
This game will see two dark horses being pitted against each other. This game will be played on July 7, at 12:30 a.m. in Berlin’s Olympiastadion.
The Netherlands won their opening Group D game against Poland before drawing their next one to France. A loss in a classic game against Austria meant that they finished third in their group and took on Romania in the Round of 16, whom they defeated comprehensively.
As for Turkiye, they started the tournament with a solid win over Georgia, before being pummeled by Portugal. With a win over Czechia, they finished second in Group F. Having found their groove in the tournament, Turkiye then went past crowd-favourite Austria to make their way into the quarter-final of the 2024 UEFA Euros.
This might be as far as Turkiye would make in this tournament, as the Netherlands has now emerged as one of the favourites to win it all. Despite their defensive issues, the Orange side are the favourites to win this one
