Hayden Wants India to Rearrange the Batting Order: Former Australian cricketer Matthew Hayden thinks that India have to rearrange their batting order to be successful in the T20 World Cup 2024.
Hayden was speaking on ESPNCricinfo.
Hayden Wants India to Rearrange the Batting Order
According to Hayden, Yashasvi Jaiswal should open with Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma should bat at No. 4 where the skipper has had a decent amount of success before. This will help India form a left-right combination of batters to trouble the opposition bowlers.
Hayden also made an unusual comment, saying that Virat wouldn’t be in his squad unless the star player opened the innings.
“To create an effective batting lineup, you need a left-right combination, as having five consecutive right-handed batters is not ideal. Australia would easily give Zampa the ball. Kohli must open the innings or he won’t make it to my team.
“Rohit is a versatile player who can bat in the middle order. He has a successful track record batting at No. 4 in T20I cricket and can lead the batting lineup from the middle overs.”
Virat Kohli is in such incredible form right now, finishing the recently ended IPL 2024 with 741 runs and an average of 61.75. His consistency is unparalleled in world cricket currently. The player will join India ahead of their first match in the T20 World Cup against Ireland on June 5.
