Travis Head vs Mitchell Starc
The final will hold the Head vs Starc round two. Starc castled Head for a two-ball duck in Qualifier 1. Starc has, in fact, also dismissed Head multiple times in Australia’s domestic cricket.
It’s a tough one for Head to deal with. On the one hand, he would like to give some respect to Starc in the pacer’s first couple of overs, but on the other, Head has enjoyed smashing the ball from the first over. This battle could set the tone for the rest of the final.
Heinrich Klaasen vs Varun Chakravarthy
A middle-order battle that could potentially tilt the game one way could be between Klaasen and Chakravarthy. The Chepauk pitch offers help to spinners, but Klaasen is arguably the best spin-basher in T20 cricket since last year.
In the Eliminator vs RR, Klaasen scored 50 (34) against the likes of Chahal and Ashwin. Even in Qualifier 1, he batted well for his 32 (21) but was dismissed by Chakravarthy, who has a fair idea of the Chennai pitch and ground dimensions. This could be a really spicy contest in the final.
Sunil Narine vs Pat Cummins
Apart from being his usual clinical with the ball, Narine has been in sensational form this season with the bat. He’s clattered 482 runs at a strike rate of 179. His battle against Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Pat Cummins in the initial part of KKR’s innings would be crucial.
Not long ago, Cummins delivered a masterful spell in a big final in India. The SRH captain would want to take on the responsibility of toppling KKR’s dangerous left-handed opener.
