Conor McGregor Makes a Surprise Pick for UFC 302: Conor McGregor’s feud with Team Khabib is well known. The feud, in fact, paved the way for the greatest MMA fight in the history of the sport when the Irishman met the Russian at UFC 229. Even after getting beaten and finished by Khabib Nurmagamedov, the Dagistani and his team have always been on Conor’s hate list.
This hate continues even after the retirement of the lightweight GOAT and Islam Makhachev taking over the division. And now, at UFC 302, Makhachev is going to defend his belt for the third time after clinching the title from Charles Oliveira at UFC 280. The opponent he has is one of the most decorated names in MMA, Dustin Poirier.
While McGregor dislikes Makhachev due to the Khabib feud, he is not a big fan of the Diamond either. The Mcgregor-Poirier hate relationship started when the Mystic Mac was knocked out by the latter in UFC 257. This led to the 3rd fight between the two in UFC 264, and this time, it was even worse as the double champ got defeated again, this time by a doctor’s stoppage after a horrible leg break. This kept Conor away from the sport for almost 3 years, and his comeback fight is finally booked against Michael Chandler in UFC 303.

Islam Goes as a Huge Favourite in Poirier Fight
Islam Makhachev goes to fight the biggest name of his career as a huge -600 favorite while the Diamond Poirier is given +425 by the odds. This is because of the stylistic advantage of the Dagistani, as his dominant wrestling skills are unanswered in the division yet. Poirier’s record against the wrestlers isn’t gonna help him either. But the power that Dustin Poirier possesses could knock anyone out. This alone makes the fight even more interesting.
