As for 2021, the Ballon d’Or was won by Lionel Messi that year and the 35-year-old believes that it was the right call, saying,
“The one from 2021 belongs to Lionel Messi.”
Robert went on to open up about how he still desires to win the Ballon d’Or for the year 2020, still holding his breath on it.
“I’ve heard there are rumours that the 2020 Ballon d’Or could still be awarded belatedly. That year was outstanding for me; I was at my highest level, we won everything.”
Lewandowski is now at FC Barcelona, where he won La Liga in the 2022–23 season. It looks like Barca will miss out on the La Liga title to Real Madrid. Combine that with their loss in the UCL quarterfinal and not winning the Copa Del Rey, and the Blaugrana will finish this season without any major trophy.
