A team winning 11 matches in a season and scoring 22 points in the table has happened on four occasions. In fact, this was quite a common occurrence in the early years of the IPL.
Despite the feat being matched four times, there is a definitive answer to which team has had the best season in the IPL.
The first team to score 22 points did so in the first year of the league, as the Rajasthan Royals won a whopping 11 out of 14 matches back in 2008. The team under Shane Warne was quite dominant in the inaugural season, with a team lacking big names.
The second time this happened was in 2012, as Delhi Daredevils (now Capitals) revamped after a disappointing 2011 season and became the best team in the league with a very set team formula. The third team to score 22 points in the IPL was the first team to ever win the league twice, the Chennai Super Kings, who touched the 11-win milestone in 2013. But this record too is somewhat tainted, as CSK did so in 16 matches as well.
The last team, as of yet, to reach 22 points in the IPL league stage is Kings XI Punjab (now the Punjab Kings), who won 11 matches in the group stage of the IPL 2014 and that too in 14 matches, tying RR’s record for the joint-best IPL season.

And to answer that, we ask you: which of the two teams mentioned above won the IPL the same year they won 11 league matches? The answer is Rajasthan Royals, who defeated CSK in the final of the IPL 2008. Meanwhile, KXIP lost the 2014 final to the Kolkata Knight Riders.
