Fans Attack Players On Pitch In Turkish League: Fans of Turkish side Trabzonspor invaded the pitch and started brawling with guards and Fenerbahce players as the latter club won a close 3-2 match.
It was a battle of the heavyweights in the Turkish Super Lig as Trabzonspor hosted Fenerbahce. Brazilian midfielder Fred scored two first-half goals to give the away side a lead going into the second half.
Trabzonspor fought back and tied the game up in the 78th minute. But then, Michy Batshuayi sealed the game for Fenerbahce with a goal in the 87th minute.

After the final whistle, the away side started celebrating in the middle of the pitch. This is where things got out of hand.
A Trabzonspor supporter stormed the pitch and started fighting Fenerbahce defender Bright Osayi-Samuel. The player and the fan started swinging fists at each other when some other fans targeted Batchuayi.

At this point, dozens of fans invaded the pitch as the security forces scrambled to get the players to safety by getting them through the tunnel.

The events that transpired after the math were condemned by all parties. Fenerbahce’s head coach, Ismail Kartal, claimed that his team did not provoke any fans and that they were attacked. His Trabzonspor counterpart, Abdullah Avci, called the events, “upsetting”.
Even Turkish interior minister Ali Yerlikaya took to X following the match to comment on the nature of the violence that transpired on the pitch on Sunday, writing –
“Above all, sport is gentlemanship. It is never acceptable for violence to take place on football pitches,”
With that win, Fenerbahce keeps within touching distance of league leaders Galatasaray. Both teams have played 30 matches, with Fenerbahce being on 79 points, two points behind Galatasaray.
Trabzonspor is currently third in the league and in the Europa League spot. But there is a huge chasm between second and third, as the third-placed side is 30 points behind the second-placed team with just 49 points.
