Yashasvi Jaiswal Replies to Ben Duckett: Young India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has given a blunt reply to Ben Duckett’s comments from earlier in the series about Jaiswal and others taking a cue from the Bazball approach. The India batsman who ended up with the most runs in the 5-Test series has played down Duckett’s remarks and brushed them aside coolly, not paying much heed to the England opener’s bullish statements.
Yashasvi Jaiswal Replies to Ben Duckett: #INDvsENG Test 2024
Following Yashasvi Jaiswal reaching a three-figure score in the Rajkot Test, Ben Duckett said that England should get some credit for batters playing aggressively in the longest format, with him believing Bazball is changing Test cricket around the world.
Duckett had said, “When you see players from the opposition playing like that, it almost feels like we should take some credit that they’re playing differently than how other people play Test cricket.”
This comment from the diminutive England opener sparked a furore on social media among fans and journalists, mostly lambasting Duckett.
During the latter half of the series, Rohit Sharma, the India captain, also took a swipe at Duckett by pointing out that India had Rishabh Pant play aggressively in Test cricket even before Bazball was born.

Now, it’s Yashasvi Jaiswal who has spoken on Duckett’s remarks. The 22-year-old Jaiswal showed great maturity in refusing to comment much on this topic and bluntly denied making a response to Duckett’s comment.
Speaking with the Indian Express after the series, Jaiswal said when asked about Duckett’s statement, “I don’t want to say anything about it. I just need to try and do whatever I can do on the ground that says the best I can do.”
Yashasvi Jaiswal became only the second Indian batsman ever, after Sunil Gavaskar, to rack up more than 700 runs in a Test series. He scored 712 runs in nine innings at an average of 89, with two double centuries and three half-centuries to his name.
