Yashaswi Jaiswal Hits Double Century: From sleeping in tents on the periphery of the maidans in Mumbai to carving a brilliant double century at the age of 22, Yashasvi Jaiswal is out there to make a name for himself.
The wonderboy from Uttar Pradesh, who had left his village for Mumbai at the age of 10 to fulfill his dreams, played a wonderful knock of 209 from 290 balls, laced with 19 fours and 7 sixes, in the second Test against England in Visakhapatnam while others, all of more age than Jaiswal, faltered around him. The next highest score in the Indian team was 34 by Shubman Gill.
Yashaswi Jaiswal Hits Double Century: The 3rd Youngest Indian to Do It
With this score of 209, Yashasvi Jaiswal, at the age of 22 years and 36 days, became the third youngest Indian to notch up a double century in men’s Test. Vinod Kambli and Sunil Gavaskar are the only Indian batsmen to do it at a younger age than Jaiswal.
Vinod Kambli holds this record among Indian men’s batters. Kambli’s first double century came at the age of 21 years and 32 days against England at the Wankhede in 1993. A month later, Kambli creamed another double century, against Zimbabwe in Delhi.
Legendary opener Sunil Gavaskar’s maiden double century came at the age of 21 years and 277 days, against the West Indies in Port of Spain in 1971.
