Dhawan parted ways with his now ex-wife Ayesha Mukherjee in 2020, with the court finalising their divorce in October 2023. The grounds for the divorce were the alleged ‘cruelty’ inflicted on the Delhi-based batter. The courts accepted Dhawan’s claims that Ayesha kept him apart from his son and pressured him into investing in Australian properties.

While the court did grant the 38-year-old divorce, permanent custody of his son Zoravar was not ruled on, instead, the court established visitation rights. This allowed Dhawan to meet his son in India as well as in Australia. It seems that the Punjab Kings captain has not been able to meet or contact Zoraver for a year now. In fact, Dhawan says that he has been blocked from even contacting his son. The post was a screenshot from a video call between the two from a year ago as the caption read –
“It’s been a year since I saw you in person, and now, for almost three months, I’ve been blocked from everywhere so posting the same picture to wish you, my boy, a very Happy Birthday. Even if I can’t connect with you directly, I connect with you through Telepathy. I am so proud of you, and I know you’re doing great and growing up nicely.”

In order to Shikhar Dhawan Shares Teary-Eyed Post About Son, Shikhar then went on to express his love for his son and grief that he is not able to meet him in a part of the post that promises to leave the reader teary-eyed, he continues –
“Papa always misses you and loves you. He’s always positive, waiting with a smile for the time when we will meet again by the Grace of God. Be naughty but not destructive, be a giver, be humble, compassionate, patient, and strong. Despite not seeing you, I write you messages almost every day, asking about your well-being and daily life, sharing what I’m doing and what’s new in my life. Love you loads Zora.”
While neither Shikhar nor Ayesha has publicly commented on their divorce, it is understood that the two are not on good terms following their split.
