1) Travis Head – Rs. 6.80 Crore

There was massive hype surrounding Travis Head’s name ahead of the auction. The hero of the 2023 Cricket World Cup final had showcased his talents on a big stage twice in 2023 – first scoring 163 in the World Test Championship Final, and then scoring 137 in the CWC final.

Travis has previously played 10 IPL matches across two seasons, scoring with an average of just under 30 and a strike rate nearing 140 in the 2016 and 2017 seasons. But critics and observers alike would claim that Travis Head is a different player from what he was all those years ago.

Wanindu Hasaranga fills a big hole in the SRH squad, that being a frontline spinner. The Sri Lankan leg-spinner has been one of the best in the world in his principles for the last few years. He was the second-highest wicket-taker in the IPL 2022 season when playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore, taking 22 wickets in 16 matches that season.

Released by RCB to free up their cost space, Wanindu Hasaranga can turn out to be the steal of this auction for that price. He will also train under Sri Lankan legend Muttiah Muralitharan, who is a part of the SRH coaching staff

3) Pat Cummins – 20.50 Crore

For about 90 minutes, Pat Cummins was the costliest player in the history of IPL auction, before being surpassed by Kolkata Knight Riders buying Mitchell Starc. As the captain of the Australian national team, Pat has had a splendid year. First winning the World Test Championship final against India, then defending The Ashes in England, and to cap it all off, winning the World Cup by defeating India on their home turf.

It is not only Cummins’ bowling that made him desirable for several teams but also his batting in the lower order. He has the record for the joint fastest IPL 50 ever as he scored one in just 14 balls for KKR in the 2022 season.

4) Jaydev Unadkat – Rs. 1.6 Crore

Jaydev Unadkat has been a part of the IPL for over a decade now. Making his league debut in 2010, the Maharashtrian pace-bowler has played for several teams and has taken 91 wickets in 94 matches in his IPL career.

His fabulous domestic form resulted in Unadkat making a return to the national team, where he played Tests and ODIs on India’s tour to the West Indies in 2023.

5) Akash Singh – Rs. 20 Lakh

The former U-19 left-arm pacer hails from Rajasthan and represents Nagaland in the Ranji Trophy. He was part of the Chennai Super Kings squad in 2023 and for to play his first string of matches in IPL, although he did make his debut in 2021. 6) Jhathavedh Subramanyam – Rs. 20 Lakh

The Hong Kong-born leggie currently plies his trade in Tamil Nadu. 24-year-old Jhathavedh Subramanyam has played in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) and is a domestic cricketer despite his foreign birth.
