3 Players to Watch in SA vs IND 1st T20I: For their annual excursion to the Southern Hemisphere when winters roll around, India will tour South Africa in December and January. This will be India’s first overseas tour since the Cricket World Cup 2023. This will also be South Africa’s first cricket tour in general since that tournament.
This tour, which will see both teams compete in all forms of international cricket, will kick off with a three-match T20I series to prepare both teams for next year’s T20 World Cup in West Indies and The US.
India comes into this series with several senior players missing as the Men in Blue have eyes towards the future in the format. South Africa too is undergoing a minor rebuild of the team with several top starts either not playing in the series or having retired altogether.
With all that being said, fans must keep their eyes on several players in the upcoming T20I series, here are three of them –

3 Players to Watch in SA vs IND 1st T20I
1) Ravi Bishnoi
The new no.1 T20I bowler in the world has been a dependable wrist-spin option for India in the shortest format. He has been phenomenal with the ball in T20s for India as well as for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in IPL.
In the 11 matches he has played for India in 2023, the Rajasthan native has taken 18 wickets with an average of 17.61 and a superb economy of 7.2. In the most recent five-match T20I series against Australia, Bishnoi took 9 wickets with an average of just over 18 and an economy of 8.2 in what was a batter-dominated series. So much so that he was named the Player of the Series.
His performance in the IPL was commendable league. Ravi Bishnoi is one of the biggest names in a league now dominated by wrist sinners. In the 14 matches he played for LSG, Ravi took 16 wickets with an economy of under 8.

2) Gerald Coetzee
Gerald Coetzee is the type of fierce bowler who can swing the bat at no.8 that every team in T20 team craves.
The 23-year-old has been having a solid 2023 on the pitch. While he has barely played any T20Is for South Africa, Coetzee was an integral part of the squad during their semi-final run in the Cricket World Cup. At the biggest cricket stage in the world, the right-arm pacer took 8 wickets in as many matches with an average of just under 20 and an economy of just over 6.
While Gerald Coetzee does not have the sheer pace and lethality of former pacer Dale Steyn, what he does share with Steyn is his aggression and grit on the field. This can be seen in his celebrations following the wicket and the way he was bowling with full intensity despite a serious leg injury in the CWC final against Australia in the semi-final.

3) Rinku Singh
Rinku Singh has been one of the brightest emerging stars of Indian cricket in 2023. As an absolute beast of a finisher in the team for the first time since MS Dhoni, Rinku has already proven himself in tough situations while both – batting first and second.
Who could forget his iconic five sixes in a row for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) when 28 were required of the last five balls against Gujarat Titans (GT) in IPL? But what people tend to forget is his performance for the rest of IPL 2023, where he scored 474 runs with an average of just below 60 and a strike rate of nearly 150.
The Aligarh native has also proven himself on the international stage. In the six T20I innings he has played for India, he has scored 180 runs with an average of 60 and a strike rate of 187. Such an explosive batter and finisher is definitely a vital asset for any team in the world.
