Real Madrid vs Barcelona El Classico 2023-2024: Real Madrid’s latest superstar Jude Bellingham led his side to win over their arch-rivals FC Barcelona in the first El Classico of the 2023-24 season. The Englishman scored both goals for the Madridistas in their 2-1 victory over the Catalan club on October 29, 2023.
In a match played in Barcelona’s Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys Stadium, the home side did create far more potent chances throughout the 90-minute affair. Before the match, the two sides were only separated by a point in the La Liga table, with Madrid being on 25 and Barca being on 24 points having played 10 matches each.

The first half belonged to Barcelona, as they opened scoring in the 6th minute itself. Ilkay Gundogan had a 1-2 linkup with Ferran Torres to breeze past Real’s defence to score his first goal in the blue and red jersey, 1-0.

The second half too saw the Blaugrana create more chances. They came off the post and nearly made it 2-0. Keeper Kepa saves a rebound that should have been converted into a goal. They had another good chance when Joao Cancelo beat Eduardo Camavinga with a run only for his shot to be saved by Kepa. But this attempt was deemed offside.
Jude Bellingham had been quiet all match, but he came roaring back into the contest with a worldie! As a headed clearance by Gavi lands at the feet of the Englishman at around 25 yards from the goal, Jude rifles the ball in the top-right corner in the 68th minute. This was his ninth goal for Real in La Liga this season and surely the best one. 1-1.

Bellingham’s goal opened up the floodgates of attempts by both sides. A returning Robert Lewandowski attempted a strike from out of the box of his own, only for it to go just over the bar. On the other end, Camavinga falls down following a tackle but the referee was not interested in a penalty.
As per the Real Madrid vs Barcelona El Classico 2023-2024, The last good chance in regulation time came when Joselu twisted and turned around the Barcelona defence to take a shot, but Inigo Martinez came in with an excellent tackle to keep the scores level.
With the scores level, the contest went into the four-minute injury time. In the second minute of it, Dani Carvajal was making a run down the right flank. He curled a cross to Luka Modric in the box, but the Croatian master was unable to fully control it. The ball spilled from Luka’s feet to right in front of the Barcelona goal, where Jude Bellingham had already made his way to only to head the ball into the goal, 2-1.

Jude Bellingham scored his second goal of the match, and his 10th in La Liga. This goal in injury time ensured Real Madrid’s victory over their rivals. The 20-year-old did do his classic celebration following the second goal.
This win pushed Real Madrid to the top of the La Liga table with 28 points in 11 matches, above Girona and Barcelona in 2nd and 3rd. Their next domestic match is against Rayo Vallecano on November 6. They would then take on Braga in the Champion League on November 9.
