Will Suryakumar Yadav Play Today: Mumbai Indians’ middle-order star batsman Suryakumar Yadav is set to miss two more matches in IPL 2024, including Mumbai’s first home game of the season, against Rajasthan Royals, on April 1st.
The number 1 T20I batsman in the world, Suryakumar Yadav, has been out of action since December 14 due to an ankle injury, for which he required surgery.
The 33-year-old India and MI batsman suffered an ankle injury in South Africa last December when he smashed 100 runs off 56 balls in a T20I in Johannesburg. He consequently underwent surgery for his ankle issue. Also, SKY then had surgery for a sports hernia.
He missed the T20I series against Afghanistan at home and the DY Patil T20 Cup in Mumbai.
Currently rehabbing at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore, Suryakumar was expected to be fit in time for the IPL 2024. However, he missed Mumbai’s first match of the season, against the Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad, which MI lost by a close margin of 6 runs. as the batters failed to close out the chase of a par total.
Will Suryakumar Yadav Play Today?
Suryakumar Yadav will miss the Mumbai Indians’ second match of the season on March 27 against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Hyderabad. SKY is also likely to remain out of the April 1st match against Sanju Samson’s Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede Stadium.
Fans would be hoping that Suryakumar gets the green signal soon from the BCCI’s medical team, and resumes his T20 form immediately. He will be a key cog not only for MI, but also for India in the T20 World Cup 2024 in June in the West Indies and the USA.
Mumbai Indians have lost two pacers—Dilshan Madushanka and Jason Behrendorff—to injuries; they were replaced by Luke Wood and Kwena Maphaka.
