Hardik Pandya booed in IPL 2024: Former KKR and India batsman Manoj Tiwary has sent out a caution to Hardik Pandya to be ready for a hostile reception at the Wankhede Stadium when the Mumbai Indians play their first home game of the IPL 2024.
Hardik Pandya’s decision to leave the Gujarat Titans to return to the Mumbai Indians and his becoming the new MI captain by replacing Rohit Sharma have created a huge furor among the fans. The vitriol on social media spilled into reality when he was severely booed at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad during the MI vs GT encounter last Sunday.
Mumbai’s second match is against SRH in Hyderabad on March 27, and a similar reaction, in particular from the fans of Rohit Sharma, is expected against Pandya.
But the worst of it is expected to come at the Wankhede stadium on April 1st when MI will play their first home match of the season against Sanju Samson’s Rajasthan Royals.

At the Narendra Modi stadium, Hardik was targeted throughout the match with a chorus of boos—at the toss, whenever he came on to bowl when he came to bat, and when he walked off after getting out.
The fans of the Mumbai Indians and Rohit Sharma are fired up to give a raucous reception to the 30-year-old all-rounder at the Wankhede.
Former KKR batter Manoj Tiwary, while speaking with PTI, touched on this topic. Tiwary said,
“You have to see how he gets welcomed here in Mumbai because I think he is going to get booed a bit louder here… Because as a fan, a Mumbai fan or a Rohit Sharma fan, nobody expected that captaincy will be given to Hardik.”

Tiwary highlights that the fans are upset and furious at Rohit Sharma losing his Mumbai Indians captaincy in spite of leading the franchise to all its IPL glory, which is five IPL titles.
“Despite Rohit giving five trophies to Mumbai Indians, he has to lose the captaincy. I don’t know what are the reasons but I think it has not gone down well with the fans. And that is the reaction which you see on the field,” he added.
